This place is what happens when “Chinese buffet” meets neglected middle school cafeteria.

The second you walk in, you’re greeted by a wave of humid, stale air and a carpet smell that suggests it hasn’t fully dried since 2007. The entire building feels stuffy, like the ventilation system retired years ago.

The food? Aggressively mediocre. Most of it tastes like it was pulled from a freezer, dumped into a tray, and reheated until legally edible. Nothing tastes freshly cooked. It’s the culinary equivalent of “just pass the class and go home.”

The staff carry an unmistakable air of irritation, like your presence is a mild inconvenience. Maybe they’re having a bad day. Maybe it’s always like that. Hard to tell.

And because it’s a buffet, you also get the full human zoo experience. Sticky serving spoons. Overfilled plates. People treating it like a competitive sport. It stops feeling like a restaurant and starts feeling like grade school lunch with adult-sized portions.

If you’re starving and your standards are low, you’ll survive. But if you’re looking for actual flavor, atmosphere, or hospitality, just keep driving.

Always enjoy the service. I Grew up with Arches Chinese food, so this is the standard for me for all Chinese food. And I feel it holds up pretty good. The vegetables taste crisp. The egg drop is pretty good. I recommend the sweet and sour pork. My only grip is that on the buffet, they switch the noodles with spaghetti pasta. Don’t know if taste changed but the visual does. You can have buffet or order off the menu. PS, off the menu tastes a lot better and fresher. And they have self serve ice cream which is pretty good. The cherry one my wife got was very good. All in all, a good choice for Chinese in Farmington. Thank you Arches for always being there.

The food was terrible, everything was messy and the plates weren’t dry. The buffet was not kept. We sat at a table and immediately my son and I noticed a terrible smell. He said it stunk like fart. I figure it may have been someone who may have passed gas or the baby sitting next to us at a different table but observing I noticed it was coming from the restroom. The smell of the restroom was over powering and what made it worse was the whole building was humid hot. It was disgusting. I question this place still in buisness, with the condition that it’s in. Never eating here again. Especially after my kids and I having an upset stomach after. Yuck!

I ordered Kung Pao chicken and I got a plate full of onions instead. The plate had less than a 1/4 cup of thin sliced chicken and had a sugary flavor not the Kung pao flavor. My brown rice and sweet/sour soup smelled like a farm. I DO NOT recommend this place. You are better off at Panda Express.

Everything about place should make this place close down. The food isn’t even warm or cooked properly it tasted awful. And we were basically charged 19 per person and they were all below 15y and ate only small portions due to the food being bad. My family of 8 had a horrible time because the cleanliness of the place is so bad and the taste of the food sickened us. Then our waitress brought an overpriced bill 174 for 8 people, she charged us for 10 people and they put their own automatic tip 21$ from the 174 when all she did was bring our drinks. Even bigger businesses don’t force tip. Also their restroom is horrible doesn’t look like it gets cleaned at all. Worst experience and place to ever eat, wouldn’t recommend and we’ll never be coming back

I have been eating here for 15 years and it USED to be amazing. Ever since they had new owners, it’s gone down hill. I got chicken fried rice few weeks back and thought maybe it’s a bad chef that night. Took a chance again and regret it. The chicken fried rice was terrible. Rice still hard, too greasy, very bland. I’m pretty sure they changed the recipes to be more cost efficient but now you can taste it the cheap. Don’t think I’ll be going back here anymore. Thanks for the good years.

Server was attentive. Food quality keeps going downhill. Meat is gristle filled and chicken tastes like the feathers are still on it. And the worst is the new ice cream situation. It used to be an old school chocolate and vanilla soft serve like the one back in the 1970’s at Johnny’s in Bloomfield. That was what kept me coming back….sadly today it was the new style. I took a picture of empty gallon cartons at peak dinnertime. See picture. My fortune cookie said it all. “Knowledge is power”. I won’t be back.

I’ve been eating here since it was first known as Golden Dragon on Main Street. As a veteran who’s been to several different countries, the food here was the absolute best that I would look forward to it when I come home.
This place closes at 8pm, we got here at 6pm: the buffet was a gross mess with food everywhere, pans with dried out food that looks like it’s been sitting there for the day unattended. Noodles looked mushy, all the entrees were sad and just dried out. My egg drop soup tasted burnt… which I don’t know was possible. This place is just a really sad DISAPPOINTMENT now that I’ve driven over six hours to eat the best Chinese food it USED to be. However, on a lighter note, my ice tea was great and my waitress was very kind. A kind waitress is hard to find in these parts, but the food used to make up for the customer service. Now it seems the other way around. Happy new year everyone.

As far as Chinese buffets go, this one is good. I pushed it up to four stars because the price we paid is about the same as it was 10 years ago. The restaurant also seems to be a bit more fixed up and well maintained. Nice selection of food items on the buffet.

Don’t come to this restaurant unless you want to be getting bland food and dealing with rude waitresses. The food was cold or just looked like it’s been out for a couple of hours, dried out, looked oily and, it was very disappointed since I usually come here every year for their birthday’s. I brought my 2 daughters (18 & 11 years old) and my son (7 years old) here and they charged me for 3 adults and 1 kid. I went to them to tell them that there must been a mistake because it’s supposed to be for 2 kids and 2 adults. They said that an 11 year old is considered an “Adult”. After we left my daughter called and asked for prices for an 11 year old they said it was $11.50 for 11-7 year olds. For adults it was $15.45. So if you are going to eat here make sure you call for prices because they might try to charge your child as an adult price.
