Familiar Thai dishes such as noodles & curries in a light-filled dining room with a laid-back vibe.

Really nice Thai restaurant with friendly staff. Food was very good. We tried a combined appetizer platter and the chicken wonton was delicious. Plenty of parking in this plaza.

Wow!! We ended up at Arawan with our 2 y/o by chance tonight. The food was so good and the service was amazing! Everything came out perfectly timed, and they even had kid-friendly cups and plates for our little one. They were so freaking nice and interacted with him, and he had the best time. 11/10, would absolutely eat here again!

It would’ve been really good, if they didn’t toss the bean sprouts in with the pad Thai noodles. I almost threw it in the trash when I got home and discovered the bean sprouts were mixed in. I’ve spent 30 minutes picking out these soggy disgusting bean sprouts, so that I can try to enjoy this food I just paid for. I’ve ordered Pad Thai from a 100 places, thousands of times, and never has a single restaurant toss in the sprouts. They are supposed to be crunchy, not the consistency of steamed earthworms. Also, why are there so many? Geez. Feeling disappointed. I wanted comforting noodles, not whatever textural nightmare this is.

Great food, good portions appropriate prices and fantastic service. I had the pad key mail that I use as the baselining dish anytime I go to a Thai restaurant and Arawan’s was superb: thin perfectly cooked pieces of chicken with al dente vegetables, thick mildly chewy noodles and a well balanced sauce. My only critique is that it wasn’t very spicy, but I realize that’s a Pacific Northwest thing and they do give you a bottle of Sriracha sauce if you need to turn up some of the heat.

My husband and I had our first date here 17 years ago. We went back for our anniversary, and it was good. We got the chicken wings as an appetizer, and they were cooked well. I tried the Pad Kee Mao, and it was tasty, but I ordered it hot, and it was barely medium. My husband enjoyed his Pad Thai (he ordered that in case I didn’t like my dish). The service was great, and everyone was friendly. The restaurant is clean, but the booth seats have large rips and tears, and they’re held together with tape. All in all, I’d go back but there are better Thai restaurants in the area.

The food was very enjoyable, we ordered more rice to soak the curry. Very calm music plays. The space has a very classic feeling. I’ll be coming by more often.

UPDATE: It’s been YEARS since I originally wrote a review for this place, and it always remained my favorite in Vancouver, and ranked highly of any Thai restaurants I’ve visited across the United States. After having been gone for two years, I looked forward to visiting it got lunch today (08/2024), and wasn’t disappointed. While the prices have increased, it feels like the portion sizes did as well.
Our favorite Thai restaurant in Vancouver so far. Very consistent, not heavy/greasy, great visual presentation, etc

We loved the green curry, basil stir-fry, and the pad ki mow.

I used to eat at Arawan when the original owners ran the restaurant. Then the food was more authentic and better tasting. The Tai iced tea I had today was bitter and stale. The Pork Pad Pret was not near as spicy as I’d ordered. I won’t be eating there anytime soon.
