Met a friend for an early Saturday dinner before we went to a party. We sat on a sofa and it was quiet and cozy and easy to talk. It was only 5 PM so very early and there was (almost?) nobody there. So I guess if you want a more exciting vibe, this wouldn’t be it. At least not that early. Of the food itself I tasted only the duck confit salad, which was a huge disappointment—so covered in a heavy dressing that honestly, I wouldn’t have known if it had been chicken or tuna in the salad. The salad was otherwise acceptable. Drink selection not great unless you’re into wine. So I didn’t get anything. Wouldn’t come back, but maybe it suits some people.

Really, really wonderful food. Food doesn’t come out quick- but the quality is extremely high, especially for the price. Duck Reuben and Polenta sticks will knock you on your butt for the afternoon. It’s great for an afternoon spot to catch up with friend.

Only challenge is the server isn’t super attentive- very nice, but you can’t be shy about asking for what you need.

Had a lovely dinner here with an out of town guest. Very good food, nice menu selection and specials as well as very good wine. The decor was charming and had nicely spaced tables for a compact space. Actually kind of surprised the restaurant was not busy at all for a Friday night, maybe because I had heard it is a fairly new establishment. Had the steak frites, duck breast, beet salad, fried cauliflower and creme brulee. All very tasty. Next time will try the classical specials such as cassoulet and cog au vin. Attentive and efficient service, nice music, very pleasant vibe.

Valentine’s Day 2026. They had a set menu only with 3 courses. It took 3+ hours for all of our food to come out with a 30 minute wait after being seated to take our order and 45 minutes between each course. An unfortunate experience overall, for us and other couples around us who seemed to be getting similarly slow service. The food was fine, but I would recommend looking elsewhere if dining here on a day where they may have a set menu.

My friends and I had a great brunch here last weekend. The wine and service were wonderful. Very relaxed. We had the Eggs Basquaise and Duck Reuben, which were both excellent, but our Pastrami Hash (pictured) lacked flavor.

We really wanted to love Acquitaine and some of the dishes were ok. We enjoyed the mussels and the deviled eggs, the fries and the Brussels sprouts but the Cassoulet was a huge disappointment. It consisted of was a dish of beans with one 4″ inches sausage and no confit of duck… for $37.

My friend and I went there for the roast chicken Sunday dinner special. It’s was all delicious! The champagne but the glass was delicious, the salad, the fries and the chicken was succulent. We were shocked that this neighborhood gem wasn’t packed with other locals in the know. Highly recommend!

Went for Valentine’s Day dinner, and foolishly ignored the review from 8 years ago about the service on this holiday. There were many issues, but among them were three main problems:
1. There was a set menu, making us to chose from a couple different three course options. This was neither advertised online nor were we notified when making the reservation.
2. They took over an hour average for each course, which came out of order.
3. Food was mediocre at best, a thirty dollar duck breast should not be tiny and more fat than meat.

The food is SO delicious, fun cocktails and good coffee. Great place to have a relaxed brunch. Service was slow, food took over an hour to arrive but they might have been understaffed that day. I would go again but not if I’m in a rush.

Had a bit of time, so walked the Castro in SF. Happened on Aquitaine and was drawn in by the atmosphere, couches and homey decor. Not many folks at 4pm, the staff seemed like good friends enjoying working together. Pleasant music, so I decided to try it. I got the special, a reasonable price for the area. I’m glad I tried it, and am inspired to recommend it.
