Reviews
We worked with both Chef Grigo, and Head Bartender/Event Coordinator Laura Borutaite, several months before our event to nail down event details, head count, menu vision etc. Laura was very communicative and supportive, and provided invaluable ideas and suggestions throughout the process. Chef was a great consult in keeping our expectations realistic around the menu, and ensuring the dishes reflected our personal taste. We selected a custom cocktail menu (based on AeV’s current offerings – they were already so great!) and chose special wines and beers from Italy for our guests.
The restaurant worked beautifully with all of our vendors to ensure set up was orchestrated timely and handoffs were efficient. Another shoutout to Laura for saving the day for our DJ who ripped her pants just before cocktail hour and managed to find a sewing kit and sewed them back together for her! Our DJ could not sing her praises enough for her kindness and skill.
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! It was an unforgettable night and we hope to commemorate our special day at Aqua e Vino for many years to come.

I’ve eaten at AeV two times; prior to their renovations and after. Both experiences were phenomenal and the seasonal (and often local) menu offerings are always perfectly executed. Last month my fiancé and I tried their new seasonal drinks (passion fruit martini and jalapeño/rhubarb tequila cocktail) which were delicious – spirit forward and well crafted. The heirloom tomato and watermelon salad was also amazing, refreshing and perfectly dressed, although our favorites were the pasta dishes we ordered for our mains. Seasonal gnocchi with summer sausage and vegetables and their tajarin. Both unforgettable ❤️
The service was amazing. Our waters and wine glasses were always full. Our questions clearly answered
The cocktails are very nice and they change the special one every now and then
They have tasting menus
Food is out of this world!
A little pricey but definitely worth going for a little special night
A few things to know before you go: reservations are required by phone only, there’s a 2-hour dine-in limit, and OpenTable points aren’t happening here.
John, who served as both maitre d’ and waiter, brought great energy and made the evening smooth from start to finish.
To start, I was treated to a gift from the chef: savory beignets with tomato sauce. Fluffy, lightly fried, and gone in seconds.
I followed that with a daily special: tuna tartare over eggplant caponata. The tuna was tossed with pine nuts and cucumber, and paired with the sweet, smoky eggplant, it made for a perfect texture and flavor.
For my entree I ordered the eggplant parmigiana. Lightly fried then baked, it was served bubbling hot in a small baking dish. The eggplant was thinly sliced and layered perfectly like a lasagna with generous amounts of melted mozzarella and tomato sauce. Hands down one of the best I’ve had in Charlotte.
I wrapped it up with their house-made green apple sorbet. Think crisp Granny Smith, not sour candy. Clean, cool, and super refreshing.
Food menu was confusing…we were told the primi and secondi options were all entrees and no need to order both as first and second courses. Pollo secondi was dry, served with only a lemon wedge but no sauce or any accompaniments (?!)
Server was also the host and answering the phone while trying to take our order and seat guests as they walked in. Didn’t get a drink for the first 20 min but then was expected to order food right away.
Overall I wouldn’t recommend this spot if you’re looking for a nice experience with explanation of the different menu options and what they actually entail.
The service was wonderful and they recommended a great bottle of wine to accompany our meal. The pasta was outstanding and each course was the perfect portion size. I have no clue what half of the things we ate were.
I can’t say enough about AQUA e VINO. It was one of those meals that you feel like you will never get again because it was THAT good. Our server was friendly, informative and efficient as well! My friends and I went here in my birthday and decided to all get the 5 course dinner with dessert. It was about $75 a person if I remember correctly which was a steal for the food we got!
Each course was plated beautifully, our serve describing them as we went and they were so fresh. The duck course was everyones favorite. The red sauce on the ravioli was to die for, literally the best red sauce I’ve ever had! It was so succulent it melted in the mouth. I truly can’t say we didn’t like any dish. Each was unique! Will be back again as soon as I can.
I was last here with family August 15, 2024 for dinner. We had quite a delectable dinner fare from appetisers to mail course and finished with desert. The food was delectably exquisite and would send your taste buds into quite the tizzy.
Chef was kind enough to come out to check on us this evening and answered my questions on his authentic Sicilian cuisine with authmost pleasure. He was even gracious enough to pose for a few pictures with my group.
On Saturdays there’s a wonderful brunch which I’ll be sure not to miss the next time I’m in the Charlotte, North Carolina area. From this New Yorker foodie here, Chew blew me and my palate away with each of his culinary masterpieces, one after the other.
Anyone looking to try authentic, Sicilian cuisine, Chef’s restaurant, Aqua e Vino is the spot to be!
