The family and I stopped here before our appointment in Dothan. I must say the waiter did her job and overall everything went well. I downsize was the way the menu was setup. Some of us were confused on certain meals. The food itself was pretty good, the appetizers could’ve had a little more love tho. This place is a hit or miss be aware of what you order before placing the order they can’t change it once put in

Food was just okay. My chicken wonton tacos were good but they were cold and the shells were burnt. Service was good. The bartender was new but excited to be there and learn. Atmosphere was strange, the employees who were not working were just hanging around and kinda creepily looking at people. I’m convinced management was not on site.

It was not very busy, and we waited for over 45 minutes for our food. My hamburger was barley warm and was crunchy around the edges, the fries were not hot.
The server was very friendly and professional, apologized several times for the wait, but obviously not her fault. We will not be going back there,a hamburger is not that had to cook and doesn’t take that long. My husband also ordered a burger just a different kind and his was also crunchy!
No thank you!

Let me start out by saying that I’ve read the one star reviews. With a few exceptions, I think they’re being a bit dramatic. This an Applebees in Dothan, Alabama people. Not a Michelin star restaurant in Paris.

The service was great. The food was pretty fair, not bad.

Our family of five went for lunch. My wife & I got the all you can eat shrimp, boneless wings, and rib cutlets. The kids ordered from the kids menu. Our orders were taken quickly, drinks & refills were prompt, and the food was cooked thoroughly, and delivered in a timely manner. Everything was reasonable. With a total ticket being about $55, not too bad I think. Only critique is the cleanliness could be improved of the facility & restroom.

Stopped by for dinner with my young family and this was one of the worst dining experiences ever.

Food prep: We waited for more than an hour and were told a couple times along the way that there are some new folks in the kitchen. Finally our youngest was getting restless for bed and we asked them to box the food without ever serving it to us- during the following conversation we understood this is a common occurrence. Having a one off would be bad but it being a common theme and management not fixing it is another.

Quality of food: My wife is sick after ordering their burger, need I say more. The oil used in the wings and burger seems stale and excessive.

I would not recommend this place to anyone who is looking for service within an hour.

We stopped in at the Applebees in Dothan after my disabled son had finished tests at the hospital and he requested to eat there. Once we were seated, the waitress finally took our drink orders and asked if we would like an appetizer while we waited. We ordered the fried pickles then placed our order. My son ordered the new OM Burger meal which had minimal fried cheese that had stuck the burger to the cast iron and had to be scraped loose by my husband and lost half the bun. My husband ordered the prime rib dip sandwich which had very little meat and he said was bland. I ordered the fish and chips meal and a side salad. It took almost 1 hour to get our appetizer and then we waited a lengthy time again to get our plates. When I got mine, my husband asked if I had ordered fish because it looked like a shrimp plate…and it was. When I was finally able to get the attention of the waitress I asked what she had put my order in as and she told me she would check. Again I waited. I was trying to eat the salad which had large leaves of lettuce and we did not receive knives so that was impossible. My husband and son had finished eating and the waitress showed back up with another waitress which was toting my fish and chips and another salad and once she sat it down, continued to tell me about a lemon vinaigrette which I told her I was fine and then she poured on the sleeve and front of my jacket. I grabbed napkins and wiped it off as well as I could and she said I’m sorry. We had not been asked if we needed refills on drinks until the waitress was at the table next to ours doing refills for them and we had been there much longer than them. By then we were just ready to get to go boxes. I asked what I needed to do with the shrimp plate and was told she had to take it back so the manager could see it and write it off. We were never offered anything to take care of all of the errors, and being decent people, we still left a $12 tip. We paid over $120 for a catastrophe of a lunch. We have been to several Applebees in different states, and have never had to deal with anything like this. It was a big disappointment for my disabled son, and also for us.

I order the impossible burger and fries. Person with me order spinach dip and the app trio. We waited 25-30 mins for ALL cold food. Atmosphere is very draining and sad when we walked in, took 7 mins for an acknowledge. Table behind us complained about food as well., cold and out of celery. The waiter was amazing but the food was horrible. I don’t ever send food back for personal reasons but it was the worst $13.99 fo a burger I’ve spent in along time. The waiter told the manager, he did not even come and try to talk to us, I guess thinking we wanted something free. The manager gave $5 off my ticket, thats cool but to have good quality food would be better because thats why I came. I will not be going back!!!

Experience so bad, I wrote this to email to corporate, but they don’t want to be reached. So…

We wasted an hour here. Walked in and was greeted by a greeter rolling her eyes. Never seen that before. Should have trusted my gut feeling and left right then. After being seated our waitress came to take our order. She was very friendly. Brought our drinks out pretty quick. Then after about 15 minutes brought refills. Great. Except, one drink had a black floaty in it, and it wasn’t black pepper. So, we kept waiting with one kid not enjoying his drink until we hit 40 minutes. We watched a couple of other customers get up and walk out during that time. Finally, an apology for the delay and then here came our appetizer. Finally!! Except, no plates and now we had to wait for a drink and plates while the food got cold. While we waited, we noticed a HAIR right on top of the appetizer! Luckily, I didn’t throw up in your floor. I told our waitress we were not paying for that and to cancel everything. She apologized as we walked out. I don’t blame her entirely. She was at the mercy of the rest of the crew. The restaurant was not very busy, so the long wait was not justified.

We drove down the road and found La Leyenda Authentic Mexican Restaurant, a small locally owned restaurant. We had a great time there. The atmosphere was inviting and very clean. The greeter / waitress was all smiles and very kind. She brought chips and salsa as soon as we were seated. She took our order and we had our food in no time. The food was great too by the way. Very good. The best Mexican food I’ve found anywhere. The differences between large corporations and locally owned small businesses were made clear. If you like Mexican food and want a great meal at a great price and in a timely manner, I highly recommend La Leyenda!

If I were over this Applebee’s, I’d call everyone in for a mandatory meeting. I’d read a few of the bad reviews. I’d tell them these are the changes that are taking effect immediately. Greeters are required to smile and say hello, thank you and goodbye to customers. All food handlers will wear hair nets without exception. Dishwashers will actually clean the dishes and silverware. A manager or trained crew leader would be on every shift and perform regular quality control for cleanliness. The manager would have communication skills to know when and how to interact with people. The manager would be required to make their presence obvious and be approachable by both crew and customers. Music volume would be kept at a more tolerable level, and the music choice would be better suited for the crowd and controlled by the corporation, not employees or customers. Focus on training for efficiency and establish a reward system to motivate employees to get things done in a timely manner. Focus directly on teaching employees to accomplish more with less steps. Ex. Appetizer plates would be brought out when the waiter / waitress first introduced themselves and took drink orders. Noone would be waiting on a plate after their appetizer is brought out. I’d post a now hiring add and keep resumes on a waiting list. If an employee rolled their eyes about the new changes, I’d call in their replacement and send them packing.

Someone else said they think the complainers are being petty and reminded us it’s not a 5-star eatery. Let’s see how you like finding hair in your food. Hairy food ain’t petty even if we’re talking about 1-star McDonalds doo doo mudslide blow out plastic injected chicken. My dogs eat better than the slop they tried to feed us today.

Hope this complaint reaches someone who cares. The bar seems to get better reviews than the grill. I’m sure it’s a better experience if you’re buzzed. You won’t notice any hairs or floaties that way! Drink up! Seems like y’all may need to change the name from Applebee’s Bar & Grill to just Applebee’s Bar. This place is on its way out.

This restaurant is dated and needs remodeling bad, both the burgers I ordered from me and my mom were extremely well done. The waitress did not ask how we like to have them cooked. Also we waited a great deal of time for our food to show up after ordering and the place only had two other customers I’m talking about like almost 45 minutes for two hamburgers after the order was placed. The time of day was about 11:30 am so peak lunch hours… So for two drinks two burgers and two fries add a tip to the waitress we’re talking 55.00 of dissatisfied customer.
