Service is basically non-existent. You seat yourself and place your own order via a janky website on your smartphone. In addition to missing several photos and many item descriptions, and said hanky site has the audacity to ask for a tip before you’ve received any service. And I mean *any*. Knowing that not tipping could affect the quality of service I would receive, I dawdled for quite a bit before placing my order. Despite this, I wasn’t brought so much as a single napkin, let alone silverware or water.
Ultimately, I’m glad I did not tip. The cocktail was weak and way overpriced, and the food was loaded with salt. Even after placing my order, I had to make 3 separate requests to get the basics (silverware, napkins, and water), and even that wasn’t easy. The two times my server checked on me, she had turned to leave before I even finished telling her the food was OK. I’m only leaving 2 stars instead of 1 because the lady at the bar was nice.
If management reads this: for the love of gods, ditch the self-ordering system. It only hurts your servers and your customers. Nobody chooses to eat at a sit-down restaurant because they want to serve themselves, very few customers will tip before they receive service, and very few servers will provide good service without being paid for it. You are not an independent mom-and-pop shop charging barely more than cost. You are a billion-dollar company charging airport prices.

I was happy to learn that the restaurant was open – it is usually closed when I visit the Richmond airport. However, I quickly learned that it is better when it is closed. It really seems that this isn’t a real Applebees but a restaurant run by a food service company which has kept the Applebees sign. Food was terrible and burnt. It would be overpriced even if it were Applebees food. Servers don’t even come to your table to take your order – you have to order with a QR code and pay before you ever get your food. Eat before you go to the airport!

The worst experience ever. Only 3 of 11 beer taps are working. I’ve been sitting at the bar for 30 minutes and still haven’t been able to place a food order. They are the only restaurant before security, thus my only option (I need to check my bag and there’s no one at my airline’s ticket counter yet), or I would’ve left a long time ago. I suspect that it’s only because they are the only option that they’re still in business. Next time I’ll eat before I get here!

Bad treatment from the employees. After 20 minutes, they try to take your order. You go with your hungry kids and ask for the children’s menu, and they say it’s not available, because they don’t offer it there. I don’t recommend it.

Excellent place to dine in if you’re at the airport and have time to burn!
Genuinely was taken aback by the tasty burger! Definitely one of the best I’ve had in an airport! For this reason, I must give it a 5 stars.
Burger was a classic cheeseburger add extra crispy bacon. Emphasis on the crispy bacon! Did appreciate attention to the small things.

The blonde bartender likes to pick and choose who she takes care of. You will wait 20 mins in an empty restaurant to even be noticed. Don’t waste your time or money here! They do not appreciate the business or the people who come in! You’d be better off going to WaWa.

Our waitress was Mel and she was super attentive, friendly and service was great. Ordered the boneless garlic parm wings (they were kind of hard but flavor was good) and the chicken/shrimp with mashed potatoes (SO delicious and hot). Prices were high, but I expected it eating at an airport.

The absolute worst place! Waited 10 minutes for the “bartender” to come out from the back. I guess she needed to finish the shouting match she was having in the back. Dirty tables, dirty bar, non friendly staff. Too bad it’s the only restaurant in the main area.

Horribly understaffed – took over an hour to get an appetizer and never did get a drink (not even water) would not recommend. Watched numerous people simply give up and walk out.

Showed up to a filthy dinning area and it never got cleaned the entire I was in the dinning area. Finally was able to place an order, received our order, sat at the table with dirty dishes and empty glass of wine and beer. I should mention the store was very slow I don’t visit Applebees typically and I’m reminded why. I will never return and will definitely share with everyone I possibly can.
