I ordered the gorditas, and my spouse ordered the tacos. The cook is the owners wife from Guadalajara, who makes all the tortillas fresh in house. Everything was exactly as I remember in Mexico and in south Texas. Real flavors that represent a real food culture. I almost cried it was so good and familiar. The atmosphere was decorated traditionally and there was a television playing recording of live performances by some of Mexico’s most talented musicians.
I ordered a margarita to start and some chips came complimentary. This food is incredible and we have eaten here at least once a week since we found them.
The food is delicious, authentic home-made style, and it brought me back fond memories of meals with family and friends back in Guadalajara, Mexico. You can taste the care and love they put to their menu in every bite.
We had the pleasure of chatting with both owners. They are amazing, kind, hard-working, and care a lot about the people and community they serve. They make everyone feel welcome, and offer a friendly and easy-going vibe.
If you have read this far, just try it. You won’t regret it. And if you are not into mexican food (which could also be true), at least you will get the experience we mexicans often miss while away from home: having a tasty home-made meal made by your mother, while sharing that moment with friends and family.
(careful with the chicken taco, menu didn’t lie, it’s spicy! )
They’re still figuring things out, I think! The portions were a bit small, and our meals didn’t come out at the same time. But they were super friendly.
The homemade salsa was amazing! We’d go back just for the salsa and chips and a beer
Give these guys a try!
Wish I had thought to take a picture but everything disappeared too fast.
Happy to have a family-run business like this downtown.
I am glad this family was finally able to open up downtown.
Ten years ago all we had for Mexican food is Los Huesos. Now we’ve got 3 other fast food chains, a Taco food truck, and now we have this restaurant.
I tried gorditas and a Pepsi. I had never eaten a gordita. I paid $20.70 after tax and a 15 percent tip.
They also have a big Mexican sandwich dish I want to try next time.
They are still setting things up as they just opened a couple days ago (menus and napkins on tables, etc).
I ate all of my food.
This place gets my approval.
I only have Sparkling Hill and BNA before I have completed all 216 restaurants in town.
