I never knew this place existed until this past weekend, normally when we go to Newport area we hit the main restaurants known for their seafood dishes. but for a little place like this, no where near tourists, and off the beaten path, this was a solid seafood spot. Its not overly big inside, but its got a cool vibe. You can hit up the market side to go, or grab a seat and order some food. I had the fish and chips, (small order), and a stuffie, and i think they were delicious. it wasn’t the overly battered kind, which i prefer. it wasn’t greasy, so its definitely a spot id come back to. all in all, it was a very good 1st experience.

Visited in early October on a Saturday , lunchtime. Place was not busy, market had steady stream of customers. We sat on the patio and it was very nice, you order inside and they bring your food and bus the tables when you leave. We both had the Cod (Fish&Chips). Food came out hot and pretty quick. It was very good the batter was well done , the fries are just normal standard fries. The inside seating is booths with a generic decor, think “Everytown House of Pizza” vibes. Value was on par with other places like this. Overall a good lunch and we will keep this on our list of places to revisit.

A short drive from Newport, this rustic restaurant with its seafood market and restaurant offers excellent value for money fresh seafood. We checked out what was available at the fish counter before ordering some oysters, a Rhode Island clam chowder, a New England clam chowder, hot lobster roll and fried sea scallops. We also had a root beer and lager that were recommended by the cashier that were brewed in Rhode Island. There was no table service but staff were very friendly and efficient in clearing the dishes from the table. The food was all delicious and very fresh.

If you’re in Newport, outside the city center, or you don’t like touristy places, this is the place for you. The place is very simple, with no waiters. You order your food and it’s served on a tray, you can eat inside or outside. They also sell fresh fish, just like they cook it for you. The service is fast and organized. The staff are friendly and kind. Everything is well organized. I recommend it if you’re looking for a simple, but good, meal away from the crowd.

Anthony’s Seafood offers the best value for seafood in the Newport area. This casual, order-at-the-counter spot delivers friendly service and an excellent selection of starters, sandwiches, raw bar items, and fried seafood. We especially enjoyed the New England clam chowder and the Portuguese fish chowder. Both were served hot, full of flavor, and generously portioned for the price. Highly recommend!

Wonderful food. I had a super tasty cream soup, as well as a hot lobster roll. The flavor was incredible, but I confess I found it small compared to the price of $27. I suggest an outside location would be super cool and pleasant.

If you’re looking for a local nothing fancy, but delicious fried clam strips, or fresh steamers, then I’d check this restaurant out. Seating both inside and outside, as well a store that is selling fresh fish. Order first and then they’ll bring the food to your table.

I guess I will be the odd one out and say this place was not great.
When I go to a sea food market, I’d hope for more “non-fried” options.
We ended up with Lobster Roll, calamari and Cod. The Cod was not great.
We loved the lobster roll, but the pile of fries are bigger than the roll, so it’s a $30 pile of fries?
I’d have given 4 stars if I just went for lobster roll, but the rest was mediocre.
There is no ambiance and the staff was all with a blank face and done with the day.
Not a bad dinner, not a bad place, but not worth $100 for 2 adults and 1 child.
I’m surprised we were recommended this and the reviews are so high.

I’ve been coming to Anthony’s over the last few years and the food is always delicious and fresh. It’s a no frills spot where you order and grab a table (or take out if you want). I love their calamari and fried scallops – these will always be my go to. Would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for fresh seafood and a fun spot. Looking forward to coming back soon!

Anthony Seafood in Newport, Rhode Island, is a must-visit spot! They’re the local wholesaler for fresh seafood, and they also have their own restaurant. You can always count on the seafood to be the freshest in town, making it the best choice for any seafood lover. And let me tell you, the seafood nantucket is absolutely incredible! Even though the fried seafood is a bit over-the-top, it’s worth trying. Oh, and don’t forget to try the Portuguese clam chowder – it’s a must-have! I drive three hours just to eat here, and it’s worth every mile.
