The restaurant is packed. Guests are seated like sardines. It is loud but it’s got its own vibe. The food portions are large. Food is just edible. They use high quality ingredients but it’s way too greasy, way too raw, and way too salty. The bread rolls were warm and fresh but there was nothing special about them. The scallops on the seafood appetizer tray were mushy and had a funny taste. Jumbo shrimps were chewy but had nice charcoal grilled flavor. Salmon was just ok. Burger was too greasy and salty, thick cut bacon was almost raw. Although the fries were my favorite of all, they were just plain basic fries. Apple pie with Clementine’s ice cream was absolutely delicious, and highly recommended. Having said all of that, the service was beyond outstanding. My waitress was experienced, attentive, kind, and generous. She was the one that made this visit a memorable one, not the food.

Hard chairs – bring a cushion.
Ham and bean soup was excellent.
Most people got some type of hamburger.
Lunch prices were reasonable.
Homemade chips were just potato chip style – nothing exceptional.
Regular fries were just regular.
Good service, but took a while to get served.
Not too loud.
Note – this menu is totally different from the Smokehouse menu which is right next door. I’d actually prefer to order from the Smokehouse menu rather than this menu.

The Failte’ Room was the perfect location for my daughter’s wedding reception. We entertained 52 guests at a sit down dinner. Everyone was impressed with the wood, the glass, the chandeliers, and the private bar service. Dinner was chosen from a menu with Steaks made-to-order, Chicken Madeira, Herb Crusted Grouper, and Pasta with White Sauce and Vegetables. Combined with Appetizers, Salad, and Wedding Cake Dessert, everything was delicious!! The room was the perfect size for guests who loved to dance! Thank You to Annie Gunn’s for providing a wonderful dinner reception, to Ryan for putting together a perfect menu, and to Sherri for managing the event. Every detail was flawless. The wedding and reception were only one day, November 1st, but the memories will last a lifetime!

Annie Gunn’s is a must see if you are in the area. The food is as genuinely out of this world. Visiting the area from Chicago, I had my expectations set low and I was completely blown away. The filet was so beautifully tender and delicious and don’t get me started on the mashed potatoes, asparagus, and butternut squash. The potato pancake appetizer was my favorite thing ever. Drinks were heavy and the staff was very kind. We weren’t able to get a table but we sat in a little nook at a bar top which was perfect. Tell Kimberly hi if you stop in!!

Everything here was excellent. The food, the service, and the atmosphere. We ordered steak and roasted chicken. Both were perfect. The glazed carrots tasted like candy. The bread pudding was great too. We made our reservation online and couldn’t get in at the time we wanted. I think if we had called, we might have gotten a table closer to our preferred time. That would be the only thing I would change.

Moving reviews over from Yelp. This was originally written on 12/10/16 but we’ve been back more times than I can count since.

To some extent a 5-star review for this place is almost a foregone conclusion. As many reviews as they have already there isn’t much I’m likely to be able to add but I will describe something that may not be what brings you here in the first place but will certainly bring you back…their burger.

Described on the menu as having been named “best burger in STL” almost seems like an understatement when you finally get hold of this half-pound masterpiece. They cook it exactly the way you order it – a rarity these days – and serve it up nice and hot. The beef patty is clearly made by hand and gently formed instead of being smashed. This leads to a lighter, less dense feel when you bite into it. They also must be resting their burgers very precisely because what I received was still not yet incredibly juicy and well seasoned. I ordered mine topped with a slice of their aged cheddar and it was perfectly melted and added a distinct bite to the flavor profile. A couple of pieces of crispy, thick-cut smoky bacon topped it all off perfectly.

Put all of that on a hearty brioche bun that was toasted on a flat top grill and dress with vegetables at the peak of ripeness and it really was a fantastic burger…at least the half of it that I got to eat. The other half went to Kid 2 because she blamed me for ordering her the small size of their filet mignon and thinking it wasn’t enough food. Live and learn…next time she will be having the burger too.

We came to Annie Gunn’s for a special engagement celebration lunch gifted to us by a close friend, and from the very first moment, it was clear we were in for something exceptional. She coordinated the reservation for us, and between her thoughtfulness and Judy’s hospitality on the Annie Gunn’s side, they absolutely knocked it out of the park. It wasn’t just a meal — it was the kind of experience that stays with you.

Service:
Tyler took care of us during the meal and he was phenomenal. The perfect blend of warm, personable, and professional. He managed to make everything feel effortless — checking in at the right times, offering great recommendations, and really leaning into the celebratory moment with us. On the coordination side, Judy deserves a huge shout-out. You can tell she genuinely cares about creating memorable experiences. She and our friend worked together to line this up for us, and the handoff between the planning and the actual in-person service was seamless. That’s rare, and it speaks volumes about the pride the staff takes in what they do.

Food:
Every dish was a hit, no exceptions.

Fish & Chips: Perfectly crisp, seasoned beautifully, and flaky in all the right ways. The fries were thick, golden, and the exact level of indulgent you hope for.

Comeback Sauce: So good it deserves its own menu section. Tangy, creamy, addictive — the kind of sauce you start inventing excuses to keep eating.

Chicken Fried Steak & Mashed Potatoes: Comfort food executed at a level most restaurants never reach. Crispy outside, tender inside, and mashed potatoes that tasted like someone actually cared while making them.

Apple Pie: To die for. Warm, spiced just right, and easily one of the best finishes to a meal we’ve had anywhere. If you skip dessert here, you’re making a mistake.

Atmosphere:
The vibe at Annie Gunn’s feels classic, confident, and timeless. It’s upscale without being pretentious — the kind of place where you can relax into the moment and actually enjoy being there. Even during a busy lunch service, it felt calm, intentional, and incredibly well-run. It’s obvious the team knows how to orchestrate a great experience from start to finish.

Overall Experience:
This lunch meant a lot to us. Celebrating our engagement is already special, but having a close friend set this up, and having Judy and the Annie Gunn’s team elevate it with such care, made the day even better. We walked in expecting a nice lunch. We walked out genuinely impressed, smiling, full, and feeling like the celebration had been honored in the best way.

Huge thank you to Tyler for the outstanding service, to Judy for the hospitality and coordination, and to our amazing friend who made the reservation and helped create such a perfect moment for us. Annie Gunn’s didn’t just serve great food — they helped create a memory we’ll hold onto.

If you’re thinking about coming here, especially for a special occasion, don’t hesitate. This place knows how to make moments matter.

This was my favorite restaurant in St. Louis. It’s better to reserve with some anticipation but it’s not a crazy reservation to get. The wine list is very extensive, they are friendly and every single item I tried was delicious (I went 3 times).
