My husband and I chose Annapoorna Indian Cuisine in Irvine for our Valentine’s Day dinner, and it turned out to be such a beautiful, intimate experience.
The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, which honestly made it even better for a date night. It felt cozy, clean, and incredibly comforting almost like being welcomed into someone’s home. The atmosphere was calm and intimate, perfect for actually enjoying conversation without feeling rushed.
Now let’s talk about the food. Absolutely delicious.
The butter chicken was the star of the night rich, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. I genuinely haven’t stopped thinking about it. We also ordered chicken masala (and possibly biryani we were too busy enjoying everything to keep track!), along with both garlic naan and regular naan. The naan was warm, soft, and perfect for soaking up that amazing butter chicken sauce.
We also had the veggie samosas, which come with two pieces and two dipping sauces. They were so good that I honestly wish they gave more that’s how addictive they were. Crispy on the outside, flavorful on the inside, and paired perfectly with the sauces.
Portion sizes overall were generous. If I had one small note, it would be that the butter chicken had more sauce than chicken I would’ve loved a bit more protein in the dish. But flavor-wise? Incredible.
I also noticed they offer an all you can eat option, which I definitely plan on coming back to try.
Service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and on top of everything without being intrusive. The entire experience felt relaxed and special, which made our Valentine’s dinner even more memorable.
Highly recommend if you’re looking for a cozy, intimate Indian spot in Irvine with delicious food and great service. We will absolutely be back.

This place is not great average to below average unfortunately I was craving good South Indian. It’s just neither south nor north seems to be andhra inspired but run by Nepali staff microwaved idly with average below average chutney sambar. Kal dosa with kurma sounded interesting but what I got was this greasy mayonaise textured butter chicken looking sauce over some veggies and they call it kurma. The dosa was flat white flour added to it and then greasy mayonaise textured kurma man this place is off. My questions to the owner that replies to this is: 1. Is this South Indian food or standard butter chicken stuff if so please don’t call this Annapurna. 2. What type of oils do you use? 3. Do you put white flour in dosa batter? 4. What is the kurma recipe it was butter chicken sauce looking?

I came from Bakersfield to attend my classes in Westcliff University so when i had i lunch break I ordered the Hot and Sour soup with veggies and veggie noodles. But they messed up with my soup and gave me chicken in the soup. I never ate meat in my whole life and when i called them, they said sorry, next time we will give you soup. What is this kind of sorry. I just came here to attend the classes for two days and i have to come back to take a soup. I am a baptism sikh girl and they add chicken in my soup. OMG i am very angry. They wasted my lunch break. One more thing i wrote in my order to include the utensils in my order but they never. Can you imagine, i am sitting at the university and i have noodles to eat and soup to drink, how am i gonna eat and drink without the utensils. I poured the soup in a disposable glass. But i was not able to eat the noodles. Very Sad

Everything was delicious. Good portions. Not too spicy. Only two minor issues: dosa needs more potato filling and the biryani rice could be a little softer. The dosa was hot and crispy and the potato filling tasted good. The chicken biryani has a good taste and good amount of meat. I will order from here again. Service was great. Restaurant was clean. Recommended.

Very solid palak paneer and aloo gobhi. I used to come here in college 15+ years ago and completely forgot where it was or what it was called. Thankfully I spotted it by accident, and it brought a eave of nostalgia. Their lunch buffet is an unmatched deal for Irvine, and the dinner prices are reasonable.

It’s located in the corner besides Paris baguette. It’s small space with few tables.
The service was good but the food tastes okay .
Manchurian inside part not cooked properly.
Palak paneer and Navarathna kurma has too much butter tastes too buttery.
I couldn’t get chance to try non – veg options.
Deserts were good. But gulab jamun tastes too sweet.

I was recommended to come try this Indian Buffet via my mom. I came with my sister and a friend for lunch and was greeted by quite a few parties also waiting to get in to eat.

We opened the door to put our names on the wait-list, and was greeted immediately with the smell of Indian spices, which made us really hungry. Overall, we waited maybe 20 minutes or so to get in.

On the inside though, the decor seemed like a super fancy fine dining restaurant but the place doesn’t seat a whole lot of people. In fact, it was a bit of a squeeze to get up and walk to the small buffet area.

They had a small amount of offerings – perhaps maybe less than 20 dishes. The naan I felt was okay – some were soft and some were crispy, so it was inconsistent in my opinion. As for the dishes, the flavors were incredible and I loved the curries especially the one with I believe lentils. However, I felt that the meat was dry in all the dishes, with the exclusion of the chicken dish that was by itself.

I do regret not trying to go for the desserts though, as we got too full.

The service though, was decent overall, and at about $18USD per person was not too bad for a buffet.

Food is decent and they are quick to bring things. I didn’t like their sambar it tasted old and it was Saturday night I expected better quality of sambar and not old sambar. We ordered dum veg biryani, uttapam and Rava masala dosa. The masala of the dosa looked like boiled potatoes with no tadka. That’s the reason I am giving 4.
