Used to be one of my all time faves. Went today and ordered the tamale lunch. Very disappointed. It the tamale was so dry, the meat was hard and old and the rice was sour. The beans were super greasy and looked as if they had been sitting all day. The portions were very small as well. We paid 57.00 for 2 lunches including the tip. Definitely will not be going back. The 2 stars were for the customer service. The lady that took my order was very nice with a big smile.

We used to come here often, but it’s been a while. Stopped by to check it out again. My old favorite, chicken flautas is still delicious but much smaller than it used to be. Very small portion of rice and beans. They were out of several things that night, including guacamole. My margarita was good. My husband got chili Colorado which was actually really good! We will definitely be back.

Been eating here for years, brought friends too. Food has been slipping downhill slowly in last 2 years. This trip we ordered the two chicken taco dinner and the two tamale dinner. the chicken was so bad at first we thought we had gotten some large chicken bones…sun dried and hard. The tamales had 3 large [3/4″] very dried meat chunks [maybe sun dried too]. The tamales: one looked like a tamale and the other looked like it got broken on its way to the plate. The salsa looked the same as always, redish colored water in a stone tub. Second zero dinning experience after years of good eating.
Will have to wait to hear something good before we go back.

Beautiful interior, nice ambiance, great food. We had lunch here on a winter mid-afternoon. Where Angelo’s Mexican Restaurant misses is the service. There was a lady who initially brought out our drinks — she was A+, but then we found our main server, a man, was responsible for the refills and entree orders. He didn’t check up on us or refill drinks.

If you’re looking for classic Mexican food— then Angelo’s is your place! Located in the cute and quaint area of Downtown Lodi, it is a decent sized restaurant with access to street and garage parking, and a traditional atmosphere. The freshly made salsa has a great flavor! I wish they would include some homemade chips with the standard chips, but, I know that’s asking for a lot… The flavor of their food is very good— the carnitas are crispy and wonderful. The enchilada gravy is complex and delicious. The servers are always very attentive, the pricing is fair, and it’s a great place to get a bite before a movie. I also like their Pork Soup. Give it a try!
