I’d give **Angelo’s Italian Pizza** 3 out of 5 stars. Overall, it was a nice place for dinner and the experience was pleasant.

The atmosphere was comfortable, and it made for a wonderful evening out. The food overall was okay—nothing bad, but nothing particularly memorable either. Everything tasted decent and was served hot and fresh.

That said, I specifically ordered pizza expecting something closer to traditional Italian or New York–style pizza, and it didn’t quite live up to that expectation. The crust and overall quality just weren’t on the same level as authentic Italian or classic New York–style slices. It wasn’t terrible, just not what I was hoping for.

In the end, it’s a decent spot for a casual meal, but if you’re really craving authentic Italian or New York–style pizza, it may fall a little short.

I really wanted to love this place because Angelo’s pizza is excellent. It genuinely reminds me of the pizza I used to enjoy when I lived in New York, which is why I’ve continued to give this restaurant chances.

Unfortunately, my overall experiences have been inconsistent. A recent takeout order for my family was disappointing and ended up being nearly $100 wasted, but I didn’t complain at the time.

Tonight, however, was different. I dined in and ordered spaghetti with a side of meatballs and a side of sausage. The presentation was unappetizing—there was a large pile of sausages and meatballs covered with meat sauce, which was not what I expected. I asked my server if the sausage and meatballs were supposed to be served that way, and he said yes.

What stood out to me most was the lack of engagement from management. I noticed the manager speaking with another table nearby, yet she never came over to ask how my meal was. My waiter did ask early on if everything was okay, but at that point I hadn’t really started eating yet, so I said yes. After I finished my wine, he returned, saw that most of the food was untouched, and I told him honestly that I didn’t enjoy the meal. Unfortunately, he didn’t ask if anything could be done to improve the situation—he simply brought the check.

After showing my family what I ordered versus what I received, they encouraged me to speak with the manager. When I did, the interaction felt defensive rather than understanding. I mentioned that the sauce tasted canned, which clearly offended her, and she responded by suggesting something must be wrong with my taste buds. While the restaurant was busy, and others may enjoy the food, my experience was still valid and disappointing.

I truly wanted to give this place another chance because of how much I enjoy the pizza, but tonight was a disaster. Good food should be paired with good service and professionalism, especially when a customer is clearly dissatisfied. Sadly, that didn’t happen here.

I have gone to this restaurant 4 times already and invited friends each time for their first time because it’s just THAT GOOD! The atmosphere is amazing, I absolutely love when they have people come in to play music. The outside and inside seating are equally amazing. Each time I order something new and I always leave satisfied with some leftover for later. I’m never rushed so I can really enjoy my time there. I’d definitely recommend giving it a try, this could easily become your new favorite spot.

I haven’t had pasta like that in a while. I was craving Alfredo and I am sooo glad I stopped in because the experience and food was so worth it.
The chicken is a little dry, but overall still pretty good. The Alfredo sauce is so tasty, and the portion size is largeeeee. Also! The bread is shaped like a mustache!! And they give you plenty of butter for that bread
The servers are very attentive, not in the annoying way, in the way they would come by at the perfect times. You can tell they have experience and have this job DOWN. The atmosphere was so friendly. All of the other customers were such sweethearts, helping to make the environment just that much better. Definitely coming back on one of the deals nights for a date soon

My daughter made reservations for us to have a dinner to celebrate her boyfriend daughter’s birthday. We arrived on time to find out they had no record of the reservations. My daughter said she had spoke to them several times to confirm. They did seat us fairly quickly in an enclosed heated area at the rear of the restaurant. Not to bad but it was a little cold. The food was good and we were able to enjoy our family time. We may have overstayed our welcome since we had a guy keep coming out to see if we were still there. We told him he could clean the table if he liked, but he didn’t until we left.

The Seafood Fra Diavolo and calamari were very yummy! The atmosphere was nice and cozy, and it wasn’t overly loud. Portions were fine. If we lived nearby, I would be a regular here.

Service was a 3 because she didn’t really check on us enough and we ran out of drinks. Otherwise, it was a nice dining experience.

Went to Angelo’s in Midlothian with the fam for lunch today. First, we love it there already. Absolute fave of ours…but I decided to try something new today…and am SOOOO glad I did! Their Sacchetti pasta dish is to die for. It’s handmade pasta sacks filled with porcini mushrooms and cooked in a Marsala sauce. Now…I’m someone who has just recently become more accepting of mushrooms. I’ve been telling my husband since we got home “I can’t wait to go get some more mushroom sacks!!!” He just shakes his head bc I know how ridiculous it sounds SO ANYWAY. Go to Angelo’s. Get the mushroom sacks. If Silvana is working, order the espresso martini. You won’t be sorry. If Kelly Warren is working you’re also in for a treat!

Other favorites: gnocchi, toasted ravioli, steak & cheese sub

If you enjoy spending your money at a business owned and operated by good people, give Angelo’s a try. The food is great, the specials like the red snapper currently are always wonderful, but the menu regulars like the chicken franchese and sacchetti (amazing!) are also great. A testament to the food and the family that owns it is that the servers are great people who have worked there for years and the regulars at the bar compare how many years they have been going there. Angelo, Josephine, Sylvana, and wonderful people that have been there for years like Delores (Deelo is the best!), Kayla, Angel, and Smiley truly make it a place that you look forward to visiting each week.

One of the best authentic Italian Restaurants in Modlothian. Food is truly outstanding, yet wont break your checking account. Calamari is totally superb. Pizza’s are off the chart good and the pasta dishes are very tasty. Average dinner for two adults is about $55…
