We started with a few cocktails, and some calamari. The calamari could have cooked a bit longer. I prefer it a bit crunchier, as well as served with peppers and whole squid. It was terrible though.
We both had the prime rib (available Friday and Saturday only) for our entree along with asparagus and loaded mashed potatoes. The prime rib was phenomenal! I had mine medium. The au jus was perfectly seasoned and the meat was fall off the bone tender. I believe it was a 20 ounce serving. The asparagus was picked at just the right time as well. It was not tough at all, as asparagus can sometimes be. The potatoes were good. They were standard loaded mashed.
We sat at the bar. College basketball games were being shown on the tv’s, which is a HUGE PLUS in my book! This restaurant runs like a finely oiled machine. The bartenders and the wait staff communicated effectively to serve all customers quickly and efficiently as far as I could tell.
We will definitely be back again!! Keep up the good work!!
Visited Saturday February 21, 2025 @ 6 pm.. no wait and plenty of parking!!!
Ordered mojito, pumpkin escargot, porter house steak, NY strip, Cajun chicken, shrimp cocktail, side Caesar salad, no croutons, 3 stuffed salmon special, side salad, chowder, Greek salad, blondie dessert. $103.17 for our portion.
Escargot is okay, burgundy sauce is nice with the white bread.
No Alaskan king crab legs at all, they are out of the crab meat.
No lime for my water. :/
The Greek salad is good, like the dressing. Lots of croutons, had to discard them off the salad. I wouldn’t have expected croutons to be in my Greek salad at all. The feta comes in blocks, nice.
The side Caesar is not bad, covered in croutons as well.
The white Italian bread is soft and billowy, not bad. The honey butter is good.
Stuffed salmon is okay, the crab is maybe just tiny bits in the mascarpone sauce, was hoping for some bigger bits of crab.
Service is good. Food is avergae
They do charge for using a credit card. 🙁
Upon walking in, the first thing I noticed was how dirty the entrance was. The front doors and windows were grimy, and the door handle bar looked even worse. The lighting inside was decent, but that was one of the few positives.
We started with the artichoke dip, which was just okay, lacking the flavor it should have had. While waiting for our meals, we couldn’t help but notice another table nearby repeatedly sending their food back: mushy lamb chops and an overly fatty steak. Naturally, this made us nervous about our own orders.
The menus themselves looked worn and dirty, which didn’t help the impression. I ordered the chicken Marsala, and my husband ordered a steak with loaded mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, my dish was completely bland. My husband’s steak had some fat, though not as much as what the other couple dealt with. The “loaded” mashed potatoes were disappointing as well; just a big glob of cheese with a few sprinkles of bacon on top.
To make matters worse, after the unhappy couple left, the manager (dressed in a black dress shirt and shorts, unlike the rest of the staff who were in full black work attire) went over to another table and began loudly mocking the customers who had complained. This unprofessional behavior was not only inappropriate but also uncomfortable for everyone nearby to hear.
Overall, between the cleanliness issues, bland food, and unprofessional management, Angelo’s Chop House left much to be desired.
The sauce had ZERO flavor and was the consistency of ketchup.
Dear Monroe, could you at least offer more agreeable terms to open fresh and new restaurants? You charge taxes out the wazoo, but only allow competitive restaurants or stores. I would rather move to have more options for all things instead of driving 30 minutes or more to shop or dine.
As far as fine dinning:
We had 2 tables that were pushed together by a window, (they were uneven so the water glass spilt) 1 table actually rocked when you touched it, so that was fun to deal with.
We’ve always had good food and service when dinning here, but something has definitely changed!
