I love this place so much! I drove 45 minutes to get here. I used to live in the south and this is right at home. Season correctly the meat was Tinder and was also season correctly! Everything had the right amount of sauce! The mac & cheese was to die for! There was a young lady named B That greeted us on the walk-in! She was extremely patient and kind to all of the customers. I did not like the fact that they had no silverware because I wanted to demolish my food as soon as I seen it. 10/10 I will be back!

Not gonna lie I almost left because this place was packed full! But I stayed cause the food smelled amazing and it must be packed for a reason! The line was long but it moved pretty fast. Initially I just wanted something quick and different. But the food… did Not Disappoint. I ordered the Bbq Pork Rib meal with Greens, Mac and a side of bbq wings. The ribs were tender and flavorful! Macaroni and cheese were good and collard greens were good. Bbq wings had a little too much sauce for my preference but if you a sauce lover these are for you. Wings were pretty good. The staff though were extremely friendly and nice. Cashier offered dessert choices which I should’ve agreed but there’s always next time. 10/10 would recommend.

I haven’t bought Angeleas in about a year or so but I definitely remember the Mac and cheese being cheesy and creamier, the spaghetti being saucier and the cornbread was not dry and crumbly like this. The greens are Incredibly salty. Sad to say Im disappointed. The ribs taste different as well although I’m not sure what.

I use to love eating their southern food here!
I hadn’t been here in over a year and maaaan have things changed! I spent $90 here today only I’m to be disappointed by the food quality. Customer service was decent.
1. Cornbread lacked moisture, pretty dry.
2. Mac n cheese tasted like it came out of the box. Not cheesy at all.
3. Bbq wings had no other seasoning on it but bbq sauce.
4. Collard greens- way too much salt.
5. Spaghetti-lacked sauce. I could have made this better at home tbh.

This business has the potential so please, if you are new owners, please don’t be cheap and go back to the original recipe Angelea had before.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Angelea’s Soul Food – Brooklyn Park, MN

Let me just be honest: I drove an hour and a half through a winter weather advisory, past hundreds of restaurants near my home in Woodbury… all to make it to Angelea’s Soul Food Kitchen right when they opened at noon. That alone should tell you something.

Walking into Angelea’s feels like stepping straight into that classic movie Soul Food — the one so many of us grew up on. It has that same warmth, that same joy, that same “this is our story” energy. The music hits you first: not the newest songs, not the trendy stuff — the hits. The ones you forgot you loved. The ones that make you want to dance while you wait in line.

Then you meet the people — and I can’t call them “staff,” they’re food family. The second you walk in, you’re greeted with a loud, joyful “Welcome to Angelea’s! We’re so happy you’re here!” That alone made me feel like I belonged.

The first time I came here, I waited an hour in line. I wondered, “How good can this food really be?” Then I got home, opened the containers, and understood instantly. Worth. Every. Minute.

This time I showed up early and got my food in under 10 minutes. I picked up three meals — two for my barbers and one for myself. Catfish with mac & cheese, candied yams, and greens. Perfect every single time. I also ordered their BBQ wings, all drums (which they gladly gave me with no extra charge). Those wings alone might make this my new weekly pilgrimage.

The peach cobbler? I won’t say much… because honestly, it speaks for itself.

Here’s what I tell everyone:

Angelea’s Soul Food tastes exactly how you expect soul food to taste. Comforting, seasoned, rich, nostalgic — and somehow I don’t feel sick or weighed down afterward, which is rare for soul food. I cook HelloFresh constantly because I love fresh ingredients, and this is the only restaurant that doesn’t make me feel like I cheated on my diet.

I’ll be real about the small things:
• No online ordering yet
• No dine-in experience (right now)

But honestly? That’s just the sign of a growing business. They already have the hardest parts mastered: great food, great people, great vibe.
If they add online ordering and seating one day, this spot could absolutely franchise. I hear they’re opening in Woodbury soon, and I’d love to see this become the next big thing.

And shoutout to the amazing cashier who asked me to leave a review — I didn’t get your name, but thank you for your warmth, your smile, and your kindness. You made my day.

Before I forget:

Where does the Angelea’s food truck go? And what does catering look like? I work for one of the biggest banking firms in Minnesota and would love to have you cater some events.

Until then, I’ll be back every Saturday morning, making that snowy drive, waiting for my catfish, my yams, and my all-drums wings. And I’ll keep hoping that one day they add a breakfast soul food burrito to hold me over until noon.

Huge love to the owners, the cooks, and everyone behind the scenes. Y’all are building something special.

The food, service and experience was absolutely amazing!

We were greeted with smiling employees who were all very helpful and kind.
There isn’t a whole lot of seating available. We took our food to a nearby park to enjoy.

I would highly recommend trying the smothered chicken, turkey, Collard greens, string beans, cabbage and mac and cheese.

I was expecting to sit down and have a meal but there was only about three seats at a counter, but the food is absolutely wonderful and the people are friendly and welcoming. I plan on trying more meals very soon

The peach cobbler was the best thing there. The greens were decent just a bit salty. they were good, just salty. The yams were good but too sweet and the macaroni and cheese is not southern macaroni and cheese. It’s more of a northern soul food type. The cornbread was good.

I wanted to support a local business and my Neice suggested this restaurant. I was really tired from my day and I just want some good catfish. The location was super easy to find. I placed my order and as I started to leave out I couldn’t resist trying a tiny bite of the catfish. The fish was so delicious that I hurried home because I knew that this was the kind of southern cooking that you needed to sit down for. The catfish was hot, well seasoned, lightly coated and delicious! Anytime that I eat at a restaurant I always call the manager to let them know about y experience ( whether good or bad). I called and asked to speak with the manager because I wanted them to know just how much I enjoyed my meal. I’ll definitely be back for more!!
