We indulged in a couple margaritas – trying the Maui, mango, spicy coconut, and guava flavours. The Maui was the sweetest and yummy!!
Thanks Amanda and Anejo!
I started with the House Salsa Tasting and swapped the salsa roja for extra black beans, which was a great choice. For my main, I had the quesabirria with a flour tortilla, and we also tried six tacos, three on flour and three on corn. The corn tortillas have a bit more flavour but fall apart a little easier. I tried the chicken, beef, and fish tacos, and I’d rate them an 8 out of 10. They’re even better with the sauces on the table.
The quesabirria was rich, juicy. It was a little oily this time but still really good, so it didn’t matter much. It’s $28 for three tacos, which is a bit pricey, but the flavour and quality make it worth it.
The guava margarita is my favourite drink here, although it can be a little sweet sometimes. The other cocktails were well made. Except, I tried the sangria tonight and sent it back. Definitely not my favourite.
I was a little disappointed that happy hour now starts at 10 PM instead of 9 PM. However, the music, lighting, and overall vibe were perfect.

Añejo carries the kind of lively, sociable energy that makes an evening here feel like more than just dinner. It works equally well for a relaxed meal, a celebratory group outing, or a spirited date night. The menu leans into bold Mexican-inspired flavours with dishes designed to be satisfying and shareable, while the beverage program adds another layer of fun with a strong tequila and mezcal focus alongside cocktails that feel thoughtfully crafted.
Design plays a big role in the experience. The restaurant is visually striking, with warm lighting, colourful accents, and layered textures that give the space a vibrant yet comfortable atmosphere. One of the highlights is the rooftop patio, which extends the appeal of the restaurant across seasons — cozy and inviting during Edmonton’s colder months and bright, open, and full of life when the weather warms up. It’s easily one of the more enjoyable patios in the city.
Service is friendly and attentive, helping keep the evening flowing smoothly even when the room is busy. Between the upbeat atmosphere, well-prepared food, and polished drinks program, Añejo stands out as one of Edmonton’s go-to places for a lively night out.
