I did a reservation on OpenTable reservation #35492 and received a booking confirmation at 12:03pm at Andhra Bhavan on Abbey Street, Thursday 26th February – at 7:00pm for 6 people 3 couples,(family), I’ve arrived there no later than 7:05pm while our first couple was there just mins before we did. Prakash our waiter at first was pleasant to deal with. We have booked the place especially to have (Pani Puri) which were informed to be unavailable, we were no problem we took a few more minutes to look for another starters which we were also informed not be available twice now. Third order we place was 2 portion of samosa’s( later a different waitress came to our table to tell us we only have 1 portion of samosa’s left) we were a little disappointed but we were like okay ,Lamb Sheek Khabab, chicken and Tandoori prawns, that we have been informed it might take up to 20-25 mins which we were okay with – we were explained the reason tandoori takes time to cook- no problem with that what so ever but we did mention it to the Prakash our waiter that we were a little disappointed he gave the look like there is nothing he can do.. this wasn’t the first time like me to be at Andhra Bhavan for dinner and items were not available – we also ordered beers 4 beers between 6 people and 2 fanta’s(orange). For our mains we order three – non veg Thallis’s and 2 dosa’s, which came around 8:30ish… and we ordered 2 more beers and were served with no problem. Close to 9:00pm Prakash the waiter how had taken our orders came to our table to ask if we were done with our food because he needs to clear our the table as our 90 mins slot were over ( mind you we were not told when we were seated about this 90 mins slot) and there are people waiting on that table… we were astonished a little like what just happened… one of guy from our party of 6 went to try to talk to the manager(Amish) and try to explain the situation to our surprise he was no where near accommodating our even tried to understand the situation after 10 mins of back and forth he said will give you 20 minutes to finish the meal. Also Amish told us we should have read the T&C’s / policy before coming to the restaurant.( Utterly disgraceful) I then got up from the table to go see the manager myself as I was the one who made the reservation to show Amish my booking confirmation – no where in the email mentioned about the 90 minutes slot- again he mentioned we should T&C’s. when we approached Amish even requested him to come and see our table full of food ( I will attaching the photos with this review). Amish as manager has failed greatly and has been very rude from the beginning. Amish has not even once come to the table to talk to us he was stuck behind the till/bar and stayed there the entire time, the waitress approached us and kept apologizing but didn’t do anything at all. Amish and Andhra Bhavan has ruin the evening/night for us. This was my first time there myself and what a nightmare. NEVER AGAIN we will never go back there. Customer service is shocking from the staff’s and as a Manager of that establishment. Just to prove our point a another member of our party of 6 made another booking right there and then on the spot and it was available and we had a booking confirmation (which made us to believe it was nothing to with another booking coming in for the table). There were another table further down which were there earlier than us and they weren’t told to leave!!
Things worsened when we went to pay the bill, which totalled €264.39. When we asked for a copy of the transaction receipt, we was told they do not provide customer copies.
A busy and popular spot for authentic South Indian cuisine right in the heart of Dublin. The location is very convenient and easy to reach. There is plenty of nearby paid parking, though unfortunately no on-street parking is available.
Booking a table is highly advisable, especially during peak evening hours, as the restaurant gets very busy. When we visited around 9:00 pm, the place was packed and we waited about 15 minutes for a table. However, the reception staff member, Swapnil, was extremely helpful and quickly arranged a family table for us. He also kindly offered a 10% discount on the bill, which was a lovely gesture.
The hospitality was excellent overall. The waiters were attentive and genuinely made an effort to ensure a pleasant dining experience. I was particularly impressed with the speed of service — our food arrived in less than 10 minutes despite the restaurant being full.
The quality of the food was excellent. Seating is slightly congested, but that’s understandable given its prime city-centre location.

Andhra Bhavan Special Non-Veg Thali — currently priced at €39.99 and easily sufficient for two people.
Overall, a great place for authentic South Indian food in Dublin, and definitely worth a visit.
A big shout out to Harsh for being wonderful with laying out specials and bringing the food promptly as well as answering any questions we had about the menu.
We ordered the South Indian breakfast thali and chicken fry biryani. The thali was some of the best south Indian food we’ve had the pleasure of having here in Dublin. It’s perfect to share and all items were very very fresh. Specifically we loved the idli and vada and more than anything and we took home the sago kheer which is a must try. We’ll be back again for sure!
The culinary quality here is exceptional. Every dish we sampled was expertly seasoned, showcasing perfectly balanced spices that celebrate genuine South Indian authenticity. The portions are substantial and the ingredients are fresh, making every bite flavorful and completely satisfying. While everything was incredible, I would especially highly recommend the lamb biryanis to anyone looking for rich, aromatic flavors.
Two dishes, in particular, stood out as highlights of the meal. The Pepper Lamb Fry was outstanding, featuring robust, fiery flavor paired with a remarkably tender texture. Meanwhile, the Gunpowder Masala Dosa was a delightful masterpiece—perfectly crisp and generously coated in spicy gunpowder, leaving a delightful and lasting impression.
Beyond the food, the ambience and service contributed significantly to the memorable evening. The staff handled the busy environment efficiently, and our server, Prachi, provided the pinnacle of customer service. She was polite, attentive, and quick, ensuring we felt well cared for throughout our meal.
Andhra Bhavan is a genuine celebration of quality and tradition. I will undoubtedly be back again soon to dive deeper into their menu.
A special mention to our waiter, Pashri who was exceptionally respectful, kind, and gentle throughout our visit. Her warm service really added to the experience. Highly recommend this place for anyone craving genuine South Indian food!
The thali here was a platter of incredible variation of dishes, all unique, flavourful, and delicious. This was way more different dishes than I expected, plus two type of rice and two parathas hidden under the poppadom. Don’t ask me to name or say what I ate as I’m clueless, but it was all delectable.
They also had gulab for dessert, as well as something that reminded me of sweet bean paste, but with chocolate added.
Samosas were great, but the pani puri was fantastic. I’ve had them once before elsewhere so didn’t think they’d be that much different, but these were way better, fresh and balanced.
The waitress was super helpful, including letting us know which dishes had tomato in them, and giving us an extra gulab when we asked, as the thali only came with one.
