Anderson’s Tavern serves up Southern cuisine in Sherwood
Reviews
Yes, it gets busy—which is honestly amazing to see for a newer Sherwood spot. The hustle and bustle might feel a little daunting at first, but despite the crowds, the service was impressively smooth. The host, bartender, and waiter all did a fantastic job checking in, staying attentive, and keeping things moving. Our food came out quickly, and we never felt forgotten.
Now let’s talk food—because WOW!!
We had the Saturday special Mississippi Pot Roast, and it was absolutely incredible—comfort food done right. We also tried two desserts: the Mississippi Pie and the Bread Pudding.
• The Mississippi Pie is rich, chocolatey, and decadent—perfect if you’re a chocolate lover.
• But the bread pudding? Hands down one of the best bread puddings we’ve ever had. We are still thinking about it and absolutely should have ordered our own instead of sharing.
Another big win: everything is made from scratch.
We also learned they offer daily specials, which gives us even more reason to keep coming back:
• Tuesday: Chicken Cabana Pasta
• Wednesday: Shepherd’s Pie
• Thursday: Shrimp & Grits
• Friday: Bobby’s Low Country Boil
• Saturday: Mississippi Pot Roast or Baby Back Ribs
We’re genuinely excited to see Anderson’s Tavern thriving. It’s exactly the kind of locally owned restaurant Sherwood needs—something different, thoughtfully made, with great hospitality and heart. We’ll absolutely be back (especially for that bread pudding).
Highly recommend supporting this place—you won’t regret it!
The food came out quickly and the prices are honestly very fair. Everything is homemade except the potatoes, and those cat head biscuits, named because they’re the size of a cat’s head, were insane. Buttery, soft, perfect.
Every dish we ordered was a straight 10/10.
We just found our new go-to spot in Sherwood
Highly recommend the Cajun fries. If you can handle real Cajun food
We had the most perfect Valentine’s Day dinner at Anderson’s Tavern and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment we sat down for the special four-course meal, the service was exceptional—attentive without being intrusive, and always making sure we had everything we needed.
The Caesar salad was spot on, with that bold, authentic anchovy flavor that lets you know it’s the real deal. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the salmon, and my medium-rare filet mignon was cooked absolutely perfectly—tender, flavorful, and exactly as ordered. Dessert truly stole the show: the berry cheesecake on a gluten-free graham crust was incredible, especially paired with the rich chocolate ganache. The crust was moist and delicious—no chalky or sandy texture at all, which is rare and so appreciated. They even treated us to a gluten-free peach cobbler that was equally decadent.
Four enthusiastic thumbs up from us. We highly recommend Anderson’s Tavern.
