I hate to write this but I’m afraid its not getting any better. Ive been buying the same thing about once/week for past few years. I’d consider myself a regular, as I’m sure they do too. Anyways….
The past few times I’ve ordered, the carnitas bowl has contained multiple fat caps from the pork roast, like the entire cap. Not a pleasant thing to receive in your food. Tonight I ordered the same meal I’ve ordered 100 times before. This time I let them know about the fat cap ending up in people’s food and that I didn’t want it in my food this time. He apologized for it, and all seemed ok.
Tonight’s carnitas bowl contained zero fat caps but the meat is dry as can be. The kind of meat that chews like dehydrated jerky, or is hard enough that you can’t bite through it, literally.
To the owners/managers of Amigos, I write this to let you know that the quality and consistency of your food has been severly lacking and unpredictable. I hope you read this and decide to do something about this. I’ve enjoyed your food very much in the past and would like to enjoy it once again in the future.

A follow up to my review a few weeks ago. The carnitas is still inedible. Dried and burnt to crisp. Cant bite through it. Threw my meal away.
Amigos management: do better!! We pay for this food with our hard earned money. You have a real problem going on here. I’ve had issues with the last 5 meals I’ve ordered. The last 2 meals have not been edible. I’m afraid you’ve lost a regular customer.
See photo below for tonight’s carnitas meat. It scares me that their cooks allow food to go out the doors like this. Makes me afraid of what else they are overlooking.

My step son had us stop in because he loves the birra tacos from here. We stopped in a few weeks ago. My girlfriend and I tried the special which was birra enchiladas with beans and rice. We got a few beef empanadas on the side. The service was fast, the food was delicious and the portions were perfect. It was a great place for lunch. The only down side is the restaurant itself could use a little more character. That could be just because its a rented space and they are limited to what they are allowed to do within it. However overall, we will definitely be back.

Used to get food from here pretty often. Last time I had here the chicken was very little seasoned and didn’t taste good at all. I went here tonight and the queso is so watery it doesn’t even stick on the chips. I am extremely disappointed cause this place really used to be banging. This used to be a restaurant I liked going to but not anymore. The chorizo in my chorizo bowl was definitely undercooked or not cooked properly today. It tasted raw and I got quite sick shortly after eating it. You definitely lost my business forever which is sad because I did enjoy your food in the past. I absolutely would not recommend going here because clearly you cant rely on the food being safe to consume anymore.

The interior is bold and vibrant which and is paired with authentic music, loved that. No one greeted us when we walked in and we just stood there for a couple minutes before we were told to order at the other end. Prepare to spend $30-50 if you’re getting a couple bowls, a side and some drinks. The portions are huge and one bowl could feed a family. I liked the fresh flavor of the food but the seasoning was really missing, for the amount of money you spend you could get something amazing at another Mexican restaurant at the mall. I think this is a great place, just needs some fine tuning. Also noticed the ice bin was open the entire time we were ordering, not following food safety to the fullest unfortunately.

As someone who has eaten here almost 2 to 4 times a week over the last year, i must say after the sale the quality has went down and doesn’t appear to have stopped declining. Not sure what happened, whether it be lose of previous cooks or cuttting costs by changing ingredients. Ill say it was absolutely a 10, and i now feel its a 3. The staff still are pleasant and awesome!

My first 2x ordering food was such a pleasant experience my 3rd time not so much. There was so much grease from the chorizo that my burrito couldn’t be picked up.Next time I think I’ll stick to just empanada’s. My husband’s asada burrito wasn’t the same this time either.
