Highly reccomend if you are in the area! A quintessential Vermont dining experience. You can walk through the garden where they grow many of the ingredients in the pizza. Delicious wood fired thin crust pizzas with local seasonal toppings. Bucolic farmhouse style setting with views of the mountains and a lively atmosphere. Loved !!!!

The bartender was very friendly and helpful. The pizza was fresh and delicious and perfect for two. It was neat to be able to watch the pizza being made and fire roasted right in front of you. The place is crowded and we did have to wait 45 minutes, but they were up front about that.

Best Pizza in the AREA!! I was staying in the area with my friend and we passed this location several times wondering what the business was since it always looked busy in the evening, while searching for dinner we found out it was actually American Flatbread!! We made plans to go the next evening, I will note that we had a 45 min wait but that is on us (we went around 6pm) and it gets busy early evening. I would advise to go really early or later at night. You can grab a drink at the bar and look through the menu while you wait as you will put in your order before you’re walked to your table. The pizza came out fairly quickly for how busy it was, let me tell you!! It was so so GOOD!! Great Flatbread style pizza (I asked for extra cheese because why wouldn’t I!?). Please visit if you can, the outdoor area is great with fire pits and outdoor areas to hangout and wait out on.

I think his name was Carlos – the guy that cooks 200+ pizzas a night front and center.
Great conversation and he knows how to move it around the room and hold back too.
The pizza? Lol, it’s great. Place varies in terms of vibe depending on weather.

Many reviews have said something similar but being from NJ, I admit to being a pizza snob. My family was at Warren Falls with no cell service so I asked someone for a good place to eat before making to drive back home and this was recommended.
I was very reluctant and expecting to have mediocre pizza at best but oh boy was I wrong. The pizza was easily up there with some of the best pizza I’ve eaten. Along with the great ambiance and friendly staff this place is truly a gem.
This place gets extremely busy so go early or prepare to wait but it will be worth it.

Such a fantastic place to go! If you going for takeout, make sure to order as early as possible. For dine in, also be prepared to wait at the bar but IT IS WORTH THE WAIT! They have a few different pizzas and dishes that are regularly on the menu, but the specials are really great. They have gluten free crust that is really good! The ingredients are local and fresh. We loved watching our pizzas get cooked. Definitely get the sausage pie and I loved the pepperoni and peppers.

I’ve been coming to American Flatbread for almost 40 years now, and every time I return, it’s like stepping into a pocket of peaceful magic where the world slows down and everything just… feels right. Nestled in the green heart of Waitsfield, this place is more than a restaurant—it’s a ritual.
The energy here is grounded and glowing, from the giant clay hearth oven that radiates warmth and love, to the open fields where kids run barefoot under the mountain sky. The barn hums with life—laughter, good vibes, and the scent of wood smoke mingling with fresh basil and melting cheese. You can taste the care in every flatbread, each one a canvas of local ingredients from farmers who know the land and love what they grow.
The food? Soulful and straight from the land. The Evolution Salad bowls packed with greens so fresh you’d swear they were picked moments ago. The Revolution and Punctuated Equilibrium are more than menu items—they’re philosophies, slices of something deeper.
Don’t leave without getting the brownie sundae. It’s a masterpiece, topped with hot fudge and scoops of ice cream that swirl together like yin and yang. It’s peace, love, and chocolate.
American Flatbread isn’t just a place to eat—it’s a place to feel grounded, grateful, and full.
And yeah, there’s usually a wait. We get there early, post up by the bonfire, and sip on some of the best local brews Vermont has to offer, under a sky that always seems to be putting on a show. Let the mountain air work its magic.
This place has soul. It feeds more than your stomach—it fills your spirit. After three and a half decades of going, I can say with love and certainty: American Flatbread isn’t just a meal. It’s home.

Charles cooked our pizza to perfection, I’ve not had a wood fired pizza which managed to stay so crispy on the bottom. The salads were great too with the veggies fresh off the farm. Also enjoyed chatting with our server Nora. Had a great time, would come again!

American Flatbread is a valley treasure. The food is great, service is excellent and it runs like a well oiled machine. Our table near the oven offered a great view of the flatbread making process. We shared the Evolution Salad with local blue cheese from von Trapp. The Revolution Flatbread, our favorite, was very good. The rustic apple pie heated in the pizza oven served with vanilla ice cream was the perfect way to finish the meal. The menu features beers from the best Vermont breweries including Fiddlehead, Frost, Lawson’s and Hill Farmstead. As we left the firepit was blazing with folks enjoying the warmth and a brew. A highly recommended experience.
