It’s a very far drive for us , and we probably wouldn’t go out of our way to drive here but we would stop and eat here if we were out near it , however my husband took me and our children here for valentines day. I figured It would be packed but it wasn’t. There were a lot of cars , and people inside but we were seated immediately. The salad bar was good although not sure why they color the ranch green. I read another review that it didn’t taste like ranch but I’m pretty sure it did. Could of used some more variety of toppings for salad and also wafer crackers and not just saltines. The waitress was very nice. The steak in my opinion was AMAZING. it was tender , juicy , flavorful and had just the right amount of char on it. It was definitely a 10/10 on my scale. The hush puppies came in balls in a basket and they were delicious! I only got three when I got back to the table (I had to change a diaper when we arrived) the boys didn’t like their onion rings , but I did ‍♀️ and the kids spaghetti . It was huge. And my 5 year old said it was GOOD with 2 thumbs up . It is also on the pricey side (the steaks) but that’s normal.

This place is a HUGE pass!
Shocked that it’s considered good by anyone who eats food…
So here goes our experience…
Parking is a pain!!
Wait staff couldn’t identify or didn’t know what was on the hot bar.
Took my grandson to the bathroom (which were on the nasty side, most with no locks on the doors) and actually walked past boxes of booze stored in the hallway and some even in a tall locked cabinet. First time here and not at all what we expected. The ranch salad dressing was dyed GREEN. When asked why we were told to separate it from the Bleu Cheese. Ok…. BUT they were both clearly labeled on the salad bar yet the food on the hot bar was not. This place may have a better menu during the week but the Sunday buffet was just gross. As stated, everything was fried or swimming in grease. There was fried squash, fried okra, fried, very greasy chicken, fried chicken livers, fried trout, no other varieties of fish were available and the trout was thin, over cooked and chewy. Hamburger in gravy, I think? Mashed potatoes were bland and chunky. Rice had onion in it yet wasn’t a pilaf. The greens were swimming in what looked like fat back or bacon grease. There was another vegetable that was unknown, creamed corn and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese had melted cheese on the top but was very dry underneath. The salad bar was OK, but the potato salad looked to be almost pureed and that GREEN RANCH DRESSING! GAG! My grandsons love ranch but said it tasted as weird as it looked. We thought Golden Corral was gross and someone was always sick after eating there but this place is our new number one restaurant in Gaston County NC to get the GAG Award! And let me follow up with the dessert… lol… lol… I heard another customer ask what desserts they had and when I asked the waitress she named out banana pudding, cherry cobbler, peach cobbler, vanilla cake and a few more, soooo,… we all thought surely dessert would be better, (most of us picked through the food or only ate salad) but…. out the ‘dessert’ came in these little testing cups about the size that you’d get a side of ketchup in at most restaurants.
Laughable and the dessert was nasty too… cobbler almost on the burnt side. See pics.
And the tables, where we sat, were covered in heavy black debossed plastic (that could never be properly cleaned) and tucked in at the corners and was nailed/stapled under the tables?? I seriously wonder how this place gets by without a shutdown from the health dept. And I also wonder why ANYONE would ever go back for a second time.

I have ordered from amber jack for years without a problem, until day. I called placed my usual order, my husband when to pickup and it was wrong. Ordered “TOP” sirloin steak no seasoning, they gave me a Hamburger steak with onions and sauce, I called back over there and spoke to a young man told him, what was wrong, took my number and said he would talk to management. I ask if I could get what I ordered? He said yes was I came now? I said yes he is on his way back. I swear when he went bank and again they sent a chopped hamburger steak. I called back over there again and they said they couldn’t make it good. I guess we’ll be eating some place else next time. Not paying for food and can’t and don’t eat.

This is my go-to @ last one a week & sometimes twice. The food is delicious, the service is impeccable, & there prices are spot on. Not only is the food superb, but you get what you pay for. If you are ever in the area or nearby… take a moment to grab a bite. You will NOT be disappointed. Plus, did I mention they have a large variety to choose from? (definitely something for the entire family)

Went in on Saturday, June 22nd, for a relaxing dinner with my husband — I wanted something different from the usual, and let me just say… I’m so glad we chose this place!

There was no wait when we arrived, and we were immediately greeted by the sweetest hostess, Camila . Her warm smile and kind energy honestly set the tone for the night. Never underestimate how much a genuinely nice welcome can uplift your mood!

Our server, Sherry, was just as lovely — super attentive and quick to take our drink orders . She brought out a basket of hush puppies and OMG — I am absolutely in love. These were hands down the best hush puppies I’ve had in the area — crispy outside, soft inside, and full of flavor. I could’ve eaten a whole tray!

Once I asked for a drink recommendation, Sherry didn’t hesitate to help. My husband noticed they had lobster tails on the menu, and you know I had to go for it. I ordered the lobster tail meal with a baked sweet potato on the side. My husband chose the Amberjack cheeseburger with a side of mac & cheese .

While we waited for our entrées, I hit up the salad bar , which was fresh and well-kept. The veggies looked bright and crisp — no wilted greens here!

When our food came out, I was truly excited — my lobster tail was beautifully plated with thoughtful garnishes, but the real magic started the second I took a bite . The flavor was chef’s kiss — perfectly seasoned, with just the right hint of lemon and a buttery finish. I didn’t even have to reach for extra butter — it was already that good. Later, when I spoke to the owner, I found out the secret was something called Jimmy’s seasoning, and trust me, it works!

My husband really enjoyed his burger — cooked perfectly and full of flavor. He even let me try his mac & cheese, and let me tell you… creamy, cheesy, and straight-up comfort food heaven.

My only minor critique: the antipasta salad from the salad bar wasn’t quite up to par. The pasta was a bit overcooked and lacked the zesty vinaigrette flavor I usually look for. But hey, if that’s the only thing I could point out, you know the rest of the experience was top-tier!

Before we left, I asked Camila if I could speak with the owner, and she kindly introduced me to Corona (that’s what the regulars call him). This man is clearly passionate about what he does. We chatted about the food, and I even mentioned how I regretted not coming in sooner — this place had been sitting on my “Want to go” list for way too long! Corona was genuinely open to feedback, even apologizing for the salad bar issue and thanking me for pointing it out. His love for the restaurant shines through, and it makes a world of difference knowing that the owner personally cooks the lobster tails to ensure perfection. ❤️

All in all, this spot is perfect whether you’re grabbing a meal with the family or looking for a sweet date night. The décor is welcoming, and the ambiance matches the menu beautifully. ✨

Oh, and one last thing… I brought home some extra hush puppies and reheated them the next morning. They paired so well with my coffee ☕ that I’m honestly dreaming about going back for more.

Highly recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A very good restaurant to have fried fish. I ate this on a Sunday where they have buffet-style eating. The fish is quite good, the first fish I took is not so good but the seconds are very good. The tartar sauce is excellent. The mac and cheese is excellent. The food is very good, it’s not excellent but it’s quite good.

The service is excellent. The waitress is excellent and helpful, though she should have explained that this is a buffet day earlier. But her service is still excellent. The place is well cleaned and well maintained.

The atmosphere is excellent, it’s not too crowded and the music is not too loud. You can converse easily here. They have a huge parking in the back of the restaurant.

The atmosphere of this place is pretty cool. Updated, except the bathrooms, and eclectic. We went to the Sunday buffet, so we couldn’t review their regular food. The service was fine. I think our server might have had a bad day. She seemed sad to be there. Dessert is included in the buffet IF you ask for it. We were never told that. The buffet food was kind of bland. The salad bar was fresh and very good. They cleaned the buffet constantly and filled the trays a lot, so there was always hot food. The buffet is $15.95 PER ADULT. Fair price for sure.

We went for the Sunday Buffet brunch, which is the only day it’s offered. The food was delicious. The wait time was not long even though the restaurant was extremely busy. I gave them a low score for atmosphere due to the political sign displayed in our dining area. I don’t have issues with other people’s party affiliations, but I don’t feel it’s appropriate in a place that serves the general public.

This was our first time eating at Amber Jack’s and it was exceptionally good. Surprisingly affordable as well. We had an appetizer sample plate where you can choose 3 (our choice: fried mushrooms, mozzarella sticks, and potato skins) For our main course, he had a large order of fried perch, with baked Mac n cheese and slaw. I had combo of 3 platter, green shrimp, butterfly shrimp, and fried oysters. Our total bill including a sweet tea and one mixed drink was only $60! Our waitress, Suzie was very patient with us trying to decide what we wanted to eat and helped with making recommendations. She was very attentive and extremely nice! We will be going back to our new favorite restaurant! (They offer many other options of food we just wanted fish. They have steaks, chicken, and burgers as well)
