It’s a typical hookah lounge. The food is good. Seating comfortable. Patrons are listening to music they want and tv they want.. which ranges from Bollywood and soccer to hip hop and football. I stopped here to see why it might be rated so highly. Maybe it’s the casual atmosphere or friendly service… I can’t be sure.

Love this place! Like many have already mentioned, it’s a casual spot so don’t expect anything super fancy. That being said,
it was a very welcoming environment and the food was top notch! My server did a great job and came to check in on me, would love to visit here again.

The service was incredible! Very attentive and kind. The food was great too! This was our first time trying Ethiopian so we got a little of everything, including the veggie plate, chicken tidbits, and stew. My stew was a bit on the spicier side which I wasn’t expecting, but if you like a little kick you’ll enjoy it. The seating is a little low and can get uncomfortable after a while. Overall though I would come back for good, home cooked style food!

I was feeling sick with the flu and staying at home when someone recommended I try Ambassador Restaurant. I called to place my order and explained what was recommended to make sure I got the correct dish—Shiro with Injera—and it was absolutely amazing! The food was delicious, hot, and comforting, giving me the energy I needed while I wasn’t feeling well.
What I loved most was how easy it was to eat. When you’re sick, it’s often hard to swallow food, but Shiro was smooth and perfect for the moment.
What truly impressed me was their incredible hospitality. The owners treated me like family! Along with my order, they sent an orange with the driver, which I hadn’t even ordered. Later, they called to check on me and suggested mixing the orange with honey and ginger—a traditional remedy to boost immunity.
The delivery was right on time, and everything arrived perfectly. This level of care and kindness is rare, and it made my experience unforgettable. If you’re looking for authentic Eritrean or Ethiopian food with top-notch service, I highly recommend Ambassador Restaurant! The owner, Selam, is truly amazing.

Definitely a locals place and locals vibe. Lots of old uncles chilling and talking about their day. Staff is a friendly part of that mix, and creates a warm vibe.
We had the veggie platter along with the chicken tibs and the Ambassador (beef) tibs. Everything was solid, pretty flavorful, and appreciated the chicken and beef quality.
Decor is a bit strange, very cheesy club aesthetic that doesn’t go with the chill vibe. But it was all part of the experience.
There are a lot of Ethiopian and Eritrean spots in this neighborhood, and they’re all about the same honestly in terms of food quality, but this place distinguished itself with the very warm and friendly service.

A hole in the wall that transports you to another world. From the chiq design to the spundtrack of chill tunes, the atmosphere is equally as delicious as the dishes.

We went for lunch and were the only customers there so I was tempted to leave but boy am I glad we stayed! The food was so tasty and well seasoned! Probably one of the best Ethiopian meals we’ve had. Ever! And the ladies who worked there were so nice! Highly recommend! You won’t regret it!!!

Very good taste of Ethiopia as far as I know. My first taste of this type of food. It was very good and we really enjoyed the meal. We had injerra bread… interesting and tasty. I am certain that you should give it a try if you are in DC. Do not miss out… your loss.

Definitely a spot to checkout for some good Ethiopian food. Came in after a late flight from Houston. Had the vegetarian combo and the beef tibs. I don’t even like beets buy these were delicious. Food was enough to feed about 3 to 4 people. The drinks were definitely made pretty strong with no complaints. I will definitely return whenever I’m in town. And the price was definitely worth it, not expensive at all.
