I ordered an Italian w x pickle that was never added. Also, I thought the guy who made it was squeezing the sandwich as he wrapped it. Sure enough, when I opened the sandwich, he’d squeezed it so hard all the tomatoes were mush along with the olives and all those juices made the roll incredibly wet and disgusting. Never let the big guy who looks like he’s not bathed or changed his shirt in a month fix your order. YUCK

In a nut shell, the food was bizarre. Italian hoagie was made open faced and served on a split top hot dog/lobster roll bun. Poor quality salume, lots of sliced mediocre tomatoes and sliced Kalamata olives. I’m still shaking my head. The steak sandwich was made with sliced beef which had oxidized- you know that smell and taste- the bloody meat sat unused for a few days to many. Then assembled on a several days old “sub” roll. It as adorned with sliced barely cooked onion and finished with mozzarella cheese. Huh? What? The roll disintegrated in my husband hand- that’s how old and poorly managed the roll was. Oh, then there was the Greek salad. Zero dressing. Nada. No oil, no vinegar. A pile of limp bag salad mix lettuce with 1 cherry tomato, 1 pepperoncino, a few green bell pepper strips, a few very thick slices of red onion and topped with a literal ton of sliced, pitted Kalamata olives and feta. There were a few carrot threads. Again, a poor iteration of another classic. Whoopie pies were delicious. To the management, train your staff and monitor the quality. We were really disappointed. Terrible waste of hard earned $$.

I have discovered that customer care is not a priority but getting customers out is. Last time I went in I ordered: ham/cheese/pickle/tomato extra pickle/tomato, she did not hear me correctly and charged me for a regular Italian with extra veggies. I told her it was incorrect so she simply dumped out the other veggies and handed it to me and would not change the code to the correct sandwich. So now I paid extra and could only eat half because it still had onions attached to the ham. Today I ordered the same sandwich. They used the wrong code so again I paid extra and when I told the lady she shrugged her shoulders with the “well you already paid” I had 2 very thin tomatoes on each side, no salt/pepper or oil. I think from now on if I want something I actually want to eat and pay only what I should, apparently I have to make it myself. Customer service should be first not last, being busy is not a valid reason to be dismissive.

The food is delicious especially the calzones! This staff is so friendly and courteous that I enjoy going to this Amato’s and have decided it’s my favorite in central Maine!! They will take good care of you and even work well to fulfill specialty needs! And they remember the friendly customers!!

Just came back from Amato’s after ordering a large ham Italian sandwich. I asked for “ham, cheese, pickles, olives, no oil and no salt.” Very simple. I waited 15 minutes for them to take care of other orders, and then my sandwich was done. Brought it home–over a mile away–opened it up and took a bite. Ugh. Whoever made this sandwich put mayonnaise on it. I did NOT order mayonnaise and actually physically detest it. So, I call up Amato’s and speak to the man who packaged my sandwich. “We’re sorry, sir. If you come back, we’ll make you another.” I told him to forget it. I don’t want to travel another two miles to take care of their mistake. I will not be back.

I was so happy to hear Amato’s had come to Waterville and the first time i ordered a ham Italian it was delicious! A few weeks later my boyfriend and i bought two of them. The roll was not as fresh as the first one and they both had way too much oil!! We were disappointed but we will try them again! If we’re not satisfied, we just will not go back! Ive always said Amato’s makes the best Italians in Maine but this last experience was very disappointing!

I was so excited when Waterville got an amatos. There was/is not many things I don’t like on their menu, but something is not right at the Waterville store. Over several visits, pizza has been undercooked and greasy. Sauce has been cold, meatballs have actually still been frozen in the middle, and suffers have become half the size they are supposed to be. About every third time I get good amatos food so I keep coming hopefully they will have figured out the problem and start being consistent.

I called ahead for a an. veggie Italian, was told 10-15 minutes. I showed up 15 minutes later and waited another 15 minutes. Either you need more people to close for a high demand or learn to train your employees better timing.
