Brought the wife in to celebrate our 25th anniversary with the in-laws. Arrived New years Day 2:00 pm online reservation. “Cozy lighting. The moment you walk in, you’re enveloped in warmth and genuine smiles.” Seated at a both/ table combination. Excellent service, vibrant, and attentive server Paris. The first course was the crab cake & wood roasted shrimp. Recommend the Foraccia bread, which is made fresh in-house. Main Course: Chiefs special, center cut 8oz filet with side of potato puree. The Main Lobster Arrabbiate pasta was an absolute showstopper! It is a perfect balance of flavors and textures I haven’t found anywhere else.” The Chiefs filets took a little longer than expected. For dessert, I highly recommend the gelato. “The staff & server noticed my water glass was low before I even asked. You can tell the staff is well-trained and genuinely cares.” The restaurant manager, “Mike” visited our table to see how the service was going. This place exceeded all expectations. There are only two locations in San Diego, and we visited the one in Carmel Valley (5980 Village Way). Make sure to book in advance—when we arrived, every table was full, and walk-ins rarely get seated.
The ambiance was fantastic: grand chandeliers, vibrant wall art, and beautiful furniture, making it perfect for dates, celebrations, or gatherings. Our group of eight ordered two pizzas , two pasta dishes , two plates of cheese ravioli , and one beef entrée. Since it was our first visit, we ordered freely—but every dish was a hit!The octopus in the pasta was absolutely delicious, the cheese ravioli was exceptional, and the beef was incredibly flavorful. Everyone loved it!
Six dishes were more than enough for eight people—we even had leftovers to take home. After tax and tip, it came to just over $30 per person，which is quite reasonable. Many online reviews claim this is the most authentic Italian restaurant in the area. Highly recommend trying it, especially for special occasions—it’s full of ceremonial vibes!

This is a long overdue review as we’ve been coming here regularly for years. Amalfi Cucina Carmel Valley is our favorite Italian restaurant in San Diego. The food is authentic and delicious. And if you’re craving a real Neapolitan style pizza, this is definitely the place. The Service is top notch. Giuseppe and Vincenzo take care of you and make you feel at home. And Mateo is an incredible host, who keeps the restaurant running smooth while also taking time out to make us feel like part of the Amalfi family.

Wandering in Paradise
Delicious authentic Italian dinner at Amalfi! We started with the pizzelle napoletane and for entrees had the special Dover sole stuffed with crab meat and the pistachio salmon. We sat on the dog friendly patio. The staff were great, very friendly and informative, and the food comes out quickly. Recommend, nice area to walk around after.

Nice Italian restaurant, with a wide selection of wine and drinks. We also enjoyed a great live music performance. I think the food was pricey compared to the portion and how it was served, but overall we had a great time.

Omg this is now my favorite Italian place. My husband and I went to celebrate our anniversary and we were so happy we came here.
Salad, pasta, pizza and dessert – all very very good. We said to each other multiple times throughout dinner and afterwards how good the food was. At reasonable prices too! Service was great as well. It seemed like staff is all Italian – they all spoke Italian to each other. They made our anniversary dinner much more special by offering us tiramisu on the house. We will definitely be back soon!

Came here for our anniversary dinner. Staffs are wonderful. The restaurant was pretty busy, but they sat other patrons away from our table so we could have a special alone time. Really appreciate it. They also constantly refill our water whenever it gets low without having to ask for it.
The foods were delicious. We had scallops and figs, ribeye tagliata, pappardelle with ragu napoletano with side of mushrooms, and tiramisu. Everything’s were delicious. Our favorite was the scallop and figs.

We placed our order at 5:55, we got our food 50 minutes later. Our server checked on us once to tell us it was still being worked on. We watched as multiple people came in after us and got their food. We ran out of water while waiting. We ordered bread for $3 and finished the basket and no one came to ask us if we wanted a refill. I flagged down a bus boy and he brought us more bread. When we finally got our long awaited food, the lasagna was so salty and heavy I lost my appetite. At the end our server asked how everything was. I said I didn’t appreciate waiting 50 minutes after ordering to get my food. He said “It’s not my fault, it’s the kitchen they are just bad”. Instead of taking accepting some blame and having some humility, he deflected any responsibility and got defensive when I brought up my legit complaint. He didn’t even comp us for the $3 bread which I thought would have been appropriate. Disappointing experience overall and will not be coming back.
