Amakai is located in the small strip right before mission college. Parking might be tough during peak hours and the spots are pretty tight
It is a small sushi restaurant that gives good enough quality sushi.
We ordered 8-9 rolls for 7 males and it was pretty filling. However the fish didn’t taste as fresh. A lot of the rolls depended highly on the sauces to compensate for the quality of fish.
Service was chill and nice as well. They helped refill our water and tea every so often and took away our plates when the table was getting full.

Ordered the Katsu Don and it was superb! I paid extra for the curry and it was absolutely worth it. I stopped in for an early dinner, I was the only person there (at the beginning) and received great service. I sat at the sushi bar and enjoyed myself.

The food and experience at Amakai was very enjoyable. While I thought it was a little expensive for what I received the staff was very friendly and checked out the experience multiple times. The signature Amakai roll was definitely a highlight of the meal.

Great sushi at a fair price. Ordered the Kubo, Orange Blossom, Spicy Unagi, Tiger, and White Dragon. The Tiger was my favorite, a very well balanced roll with the perfect amount of spice. Photographed are the CA roll and Kubo, Tiger, and Orange Blossom rolls. Will definitely visit again to bring friends and family when I’m showing people around the area!

I ordered lunch take out from Amakai. The food is really good, and not very expensive. I ordered beef teriyaki bento. The taste of the teriyaki sauce is little bit sweet. Beef is grilled just about the right time ( not too chewy and not too raw). The rice is Japanese rice, I like it! Gyoza is deep fried, so it’s crispy outside. Miso soup is as expected. I would come back again and try sashimi or roll on my next visit.
