My husband and I dined at Ama during our honeymoon in St. Croix, and it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. From the moment we arrived, the service was absolutely incredible—warm, attentive, and perfectly timed. The menu may be small, but every single dish delivered beyond expectation… like 100000000% delivered. We were genuinely talking about licking the plates because the flavors were that unforgettable.

Dessert was just as incredible as the main courses—thoughtfully crafted and the perfect ending to an already flawless meal. The sunset views paired with the special table we reserved made the entire evening feel magical and intimate, far exceeding anything we imagined.

This was one of those meals you think about long after the honeymoon is over. I can’t wait to return to St. Croix just to experience Ama again. Simply WOW.

Absolutely spectacular. We sat at the table to the left of the stone stairs. It was basically private dining with the most picturesque view imaginable. My rare wahoo w/mushroom risotto and my girlfriend’s rare+ steak was absolutely perfect. The mango cheesecake truly topped it all off. Best meal on island and top three of my life. Sean was a great server. Regular check ins yet nearly invisible.

This was one of the most intimate restaurants my husband and I have visited on island. We’ve gone two years in a row for our anniversary, and haven’t been disappointed. The restaurant it literally on the water. Watch the waves crash against the rocks and fill the tide pool with beautiful tropical fish. The service was awesome!

My vegetarian dish was inedible. It took an hour for our salad to arrive then the entrees came 30 seconds later. They were cold and dry and had obviously been held because of the missing salad, which was the only bright spot in our meal. We were overcharged for the bottle of wine. Never again. We paid a lot for the view which was indeed stunning. Be careful booking the outer tables. It rained and the seats were all wet which made us glad to be on the upper area.

Outstanding dining experience. It is a little difficult to get to this part of the island windy roads with potholes but it is worth it! The most beautiful site I have ever seen while dining. Amazing sunset, you can hear the ocean and the food was amazing!

The views were absolutely amazing. My children and I spent my birthday dinner here and it was good but could have been better. The grits had a sour taste I didn’t love but the shrimp were good. The pork chop dinner was phenomenal. The mussels lacked seasoning and spice. The special scallops were ok just lacked flavor. Overall the views and sunset made up for all the lacked flavors. I guess it’s a more healthy upscale option.

I mean, it was fine, I guess.

These are words that should not start a review for what was supposed to be an incredible celebration dinner for my wife and I. After spending $250 on the entire experience, “fine, I guess” is not what my sentiment regarding Ama at Cane Bay should be.

We had food that was twice as good at Savant and Off the Wall, both for less than half of the price.

We had the last reservation of the evening, and it definitely felt like it. I will try to make the review brief as my intent is not to blast Ama, but it is to help other travelers that are hoping to have an amazing time on St. Croix like we did.

The ambience: Pretty awesome. Really neat to sit right next to the water and have dinner. The night sky was beautiful and we had a perfect view of the waxing crescent moon during our dinner.

The drinks: Not very good, uninspired, and expensive. I got two different cocktails, and both left me wishing I was at Savant or Off the Wall where they had excellent cocktails.

The menu: Small, but lots that looked intriguing.

The appetizers: We ordered mussels and ceviche. The mussels were delicious and what has helped Ama to earn that second star. The ceviche was “okay” and the chips were stale that came with it. Again, this would be fine if we were at a dive bar, not for a “once a year” type of meal.

The entrees: My wife ordered the blackened mahi, to which she was informed that they did not have it, and it was wahoo instead, which she does not prefer. So as an alternative, she ordered “Buddha’s Feast” as a vegetarian dish, sounds interesting and probably has lots of great local vegetables expertly prepared, given that it’s called a “Feast”. I ordered one of the more expensive items, the Lobster Pasta for $50.

The wait for the food was long and we didn’t see our server for probably ~20 minutes. She did apologize when she brought the food, and indicated that the kitchen was “getting caught up on a few things”.

Buddha’s Feast: Extremely disappointing, a few pieces of broccolini, pureed sweet potatoes, and a couple of other items. Probably less than 200 calories of food total, one of the worst entrees I had ever seen. We were trying to have a nice evening, so we did not send it back or complain, at this point we were ready to get on with the rest of our trip.

Lobster Pasta: It was good. But again, I would expect GREAT for a $50 entree.

Overall, it would have been fine if we spend $100 or so (like many other meals on the island), but for $250, I expected EXCELLENCE and we had a mediocre (at best) experience.

TLDR: Avoid Ama at Cane Bay, too many amazing experiences to be had on this island without wasting your time and money here.

Everyone says to go to Ama’s at Cane Bay if you’re on St. Croix and looking for a romantic dinner. Wasn’t sure this place would live up to the hype, but you can’t beat the ambiance. Was definitely worth it for a romantic dinner on my 20th wedding anniversary trip to St Croix. I would come back if we’re ever on the island again. Pro tip: you can also sit upstairs at the “bar” level without need for a reservation for a very comparable experience, though with a more limited menu.

Not sure ive experienced a better atmosphere for a dinner. Food and service were also great. This was recommended to us by our bartender and I’m glad we followed her advice. 10/10

We enjoyed dinner here on our first night in St. Croix. Our reservations were for 5 PM. For an appetizer, we had the crab dip 10/10. We order the almond crusted mahi along with the blackened salmon. Both dishes were absolutely amazing. We got the mezcal margarita, which are also really good. We only ordered one. The views were stunning, and the overall dinner was really romantic.
