A gem of the neighborhood and Harrisburg. Classic Italian bakery and eats. The have daily specials, huge pizza slices and loads of pastries to choose from. Everything we got was great. Really nice owner to top it off.

I cannot sing their praises high enough! I came in today hoping (and expecting to be told no) that I’d be able to get 36 cannoli’s and a cookie tray, understanding that is a tall order I expected them to be upset BUT THEY WEREN’T! This lovely family business made me 30 FRESH cannoli’s and used all the cream they had available, along with the beautifully set up cookie tray, and a small snack for myself. No attitude, no short temper, the gentleman was absolutely amazing and so thoughtful. I will never go anywhere else for my pastries, and I can’t wait to try everything else!

Alvaros is a gem in Harrisburg. Excellent Italian food whether you eat inside, at a sidewalk table or do takeout. We took advantage of their New Year’s Eve takeout package and everything has been excellent.

We have been here twice. First time we got in the long line after 12:30 pm and ordered carry out.

The line is long during lunch hour so it’s not comfortable to eat indoors with so many people standing so close unless you can get seat near the window or outside. There is no wait service, they have bottled sodas to purchase, and plastic utensils.

I didn’t like the pizza, which tasted tough. Husband’s penne with sausage was delicious, but it seemed like small portions. Didn’t take photos because we were famished when we got home. Husband was disappointed to see small portions. Son’s ravioli with chicken parm looked plentiful.

We went today to get cookies for $11 lb. We ate 6 cookies before I took photo. They are to die for on a cold fall night with hot tea and coffee. We missed out on the rainbow cookies, which sold out in the morning. Those are the perfect Christmas cookies.

We will be back. We live in Linglestown so we’ll be eating at the Front St location when it opens.

My wife and I had lunch here. We tried a sampling of all the small pastries, a cannoli and a blueberry Danish. I also tried a slice of their meat lovers pizza. Everything is made fresh daily and anything left over is donated locally. The pizza was incredible – as you’d expect from a bread/pastry place perhaps, the crust was so delicious and the sauce and toppings were a great compliment to the bread. It was amazing how each of the pastries had unique flavors and textures – some were sweet, some more savory, chocolate, coconut, various jellies and fillings. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The small indoor dining area is complemented by an outdoor area. It’s not a busy section of town and we were able to find street parking easy enough, although after having been there, I’d walk a few blocks if needed next time!

It’s a very small but cute place. I like the outdoor seating area and interior design, but it’s hard to walk inside because it’s cluttered with tables and chairs. I ordered a ravioli dish and the serving size was really small, so I was not fully satisfied. I’ll have to go again if I want to get a better scope of their food.

First time there… Excellent sandwiches, great meats, fresh bread, and nice customizations.

Made to order… prosciutto, mozzarella, arugula, balsamic vinegar, and pesto

I also ordered vanilla florentines… delicious! And a shot of espresso. I believe it’s a light roast.

Nice staff, clean and cozy atmosphere. They have a wide selection of baked goods and a nice pre-selection menu for the day.

I will definitely visit again.

I have been looking for authentic Italian food since I traveled to Rome last June, and this is the only place I have found that has it. I can not recommend this restaurant enough!! It is in a cute corner store, has indoor and outdoor seating, and a very large menu with breakfast, lunch, cookies, cannolis, and gelato! Employees were super friendly as well. I will be making trips to Harrisburg just to visit this place

This place is our favorite! Family owned business with quality food and very friendly service.

Pastries; the pastries are the best – literally get anything, you won’t be disappointed. Nutella croissants and cannolis are my jam though.

Gelato; get some uniquely flavored gelato on a warm day.

Pizza; very affordable pizza slices with big portions! Delish.

Bread; take some fresh bread to-go and toast it in your oven for dinner.

Atmosphere; Eat inside for an authentic Italian experience. Take your food outside and enjoy the sidewalk views of Green St.
