So delicious I can forgive some server faux pas.
Halloumi might be the best bite. Followed by the Muhammara with house bread and cracker. We also got Duck leg and Lake trout entrees which were delicious as well. Kiss the cheff all day long if you can!
Craft cocktail service was delicious, excellent chemistry happening here.

In other news; Server accidentally assigned our order to another tab, but sorted it out quickly. Waited awhile for our bottle of wine after ordering also. This dampened the flow of the night slightly, but not enough to bring down the overall review.

One of, or possibly the best food I’ve had in Duluth in the 12 years I’ve lived here. It was a very welcoming space, and the servers were very knowledgeable about the foods and drinks on the menu. We were a group of 4, and shared 5 dishes (souvlaki, carrots, potatoes, pork tenderloin and halloumi) with breads and the hummus trio. All were out of this world! By far the best hummus I’ve had in many many years. The specialty cocktails were welcomed ideas and tastes.

Alto Pino is by and far at the top of Twin Ports eateries, and look forward to returning again and again.

Alto Pino is the BEST resturaunt I’ve ever been to in Duluth (and maybe anywhere)! We tried several items and each bite was perfectly prepared perfection. Our waiter David was just as delightful as the food; friendly, funny, and flawless. If I wasn’t so excited about trying the next dish, I might have begged him to sit down and hang out with us. The atmosphere was also lovely, clean and comfortably lit with an excellent music playlist. I’m not a drinker, but the bar and selection looked top notch. High brow, swanky vibe that’s really reasonably priced for the experience. We will absolutely be returning again and again.

There aren’t a lot of swoon-worthy upscale restaurants in Duluth. Alto Pino is one of them. Sit at the full-service bar (the stools and bar height are actually comfortable!) for a view of the kitchen and the meticulous care that goes into each mouthful. The Mediterranean-focused menu incorporated local ingredients like rhubarb, wild rice and fresh herbs. We swooned our way through the chard dolmades, thumbelina carrots, lamb skewers, grilled halloumi, Iberian pork, and olive oil cake. Attentive and well-informed staff. Beautiful downtown space, open and airy without being too noisy.

Note for the fragrance-sensitive: they use scented laundry products on the cloth napkins, but will graciously provide an alternative upon request. The beautiful restrooms feature some kind of scented oil, but not the harsh “public restroom” air fresheners.

The bartender was extremely helpful and knew what she was talking about. Food and wine recommendations were spot on. 10/10 would be back if I lived anywhere nearby. The small kitchen staff were very hard to keep everyone fed and happy. Extremely satisfied with this place.

We visited Alto Pino for our 5th anniversary, which coincidentally fell on their first anniversary! Owner Lauren was easy to communicate with for our reservation ahead of time. Complimentary bubbles were a great way to start the evening. We had the roasted red pepper dip, special board with local cheese, fig and duck with homemade crackers, lamb skewers and special butternut squash ravioli in homemade pasta. Everything was delicious! Lauren sent us home with dessert which was very appreciated! Old fashioned and peach ginger cocktail were lovely as well. Would definitely recommend for a date night or special occasion.

Alto Pino makes me so happy! I’ve been there many times, and I love every part of the menu. Service has been great; waitstaff and bartenders have given solid advice about combinations of dishes to share, portion sizes, and ideas for drinks and wine. It’s expensive by Duluth standards, but it’s also fresh and well prepared, and the environment feels nice enough for a special occasion without being intimidating or pretentious.

Truly food-centered and unique restaurants are too rare everyplace, and even more rare in Duluth. The corporate or local chains of “concept” places (ahem Duluth Grill), or the endless midwestern pub menus, get tiresome. This place is a gem, I highly recommend.

One of the best meals I’ve ever had in Duluth. Great service, good recommendations. Menu had plenty of options but not so many that it was overwhelming. Great NA cocktails options as well. We’ll definitely be back!

Absolutely Wonderful! From the moment we walked in the front door, with a greeting as if we were VIP guests! Staff are knowledgeable about each dish, right down to the history and pairings of the wines .
We ordered a couple different appetizers that were incredible!
My entrée was the Lamb Pasta Ragu.
The pasta was made fresh that morning. It has the authentic Italian taste and texture. Yum!!
If you’re looking for a Rock Star meal and venue ✨️, with that Mediterranean taste, Alto Pino is the place! I’m looking forward to sitting in the lounge area with my girls squad for wine and trying more of the apps and entrées!
CHEERS!
