First stopped for a drink? bar was fairly busy with a good vibe. I was served quickly as plently of staff working. The view was amazing!
Toilets were very clean.
Will definitely be returning.
Returned and tried out the set menu- food was outstanding with a good priced set menu.
Again staff were excellent, friendly and attentive.
Even those who I was with who had non-vegan meals said they weren’t that impressed by them and it wasn’t quite what they were expecting. The set menu is decent value but had limited options.
The atmosphere and service were alright. The views even on a misty night we’re quite nice. I would definitely recommend visiting for the views, better in day time I’m sure, and perhaps only for a drink or snack rather than a meal.
Table was booked for 7pm.
When we were finally seated, without menus, it took a good 10 minutes to get the attention of one of the waitresses to ask for some. Another waitress then came over within a second to ask if we were ready to order drinks, I had to laugh and I said I’m sorry we’ve literally just had the menus. She then came back and asked if we were now ready (as if it was our fault we weren’t ready before).
2 drinks ordered. 1 drink incorrect.
We then ordered garlic bread to start and 2 fillets, one medium-rare, one rare.
40 minutes later, wondering if the garlic bread was going to end up coming with the mains.
Nope, garlic bread then came, this was at 8:15pm.
Mains then came 0845pm, waitress asked who was having the medium rare, placed them down. After we had cut into and started eating the steaks, realised they were the wrong ones (we had different sides, so not like it could have been an easy mistake to be made).
I raised this as an issue, and said we have had to swap our steaks, the waitress didn’t really know what to say other than sorry and she’d inform/ask her manager.
No manager came over to apologise.
I ordered another drink, raspberry lemonade, and the waitress brought over a gin and lemonade.
Asked for the bill and a full price of £105.30 charged.
Literally paid over £100 to have the worst meal and experience ever.
The seating is pretty cramped (we had to shuffle past a few chairs at some tables) and the noise is extreme. It gets pretty loud, if you want to talk, be prepared to shout.
From the starters we had the foccacia and the garlic bread. From the photos you can see that both of those are a weird cake type bread, and unfortunately stale and dry. I don’t think I have ever had foccacia that bad.
Mains were pork and fillet medallions. Both the meats were cooked alright, but only just there, it feels like the food had been sat under a lamp for a while and the chips had been refried a few times (as you can tell from the colour – it’s not the triple cook effect, it’s the triple fried to keep them warm effect).
Service was pleasant enough, it took a little while for things to come out, and it felt pretty rushed. Perhaps new team, but the manager/senior lady was professional and on it.
Overall quite disappointing. Imagine a marstons pub, but everything costs double and it has a slightly more fancy sounding menu (but it’s the same food). 3.5/10.
Thank you to Ariana and our other waiter (I am so sorry I can’t remember your name) you both really made the difference!
