It’s a Saturday afternoon and the small dining area wasn’t busy. I walk to the counter and give my name saying I ordered via toast (says it’s their preferred service). The woman behind the counter looked at me with a blank stare and I realized they didn’t receive my order. Bummer but technology happens and she says it’ll be 15 minutes. I’ve been looking forward to trying this place and not in a big rush so it’s cool whatever.
I sit down at an open table to wait and realize it’s covered in crumbs when I rest my arm on it. Whatever I’m taking it home anyway.
You can check the photos to see how haphazardly the minimal seasoning (this was “hot” level) was applied and the sad state of the 2 pickle chunks on my sandwich. I recall reading something about coleslaw but never saw any. My fries were cold as was the piece of toast.
Maybe they’re better during the week for lunch or I caught them on the worst off day in the history of off days, but I won’t be going back.
Searching for positives – the chicken tenders were a good size and the prices not excessive.
Also 3 stars for service to give grace to the poor woman who was the only person working and obviously struggling.
I tried all the Al’s signature sauces and each one was super yummy. The cheese on my sandwich tasted like quality Wisconsin cheddar, not the processed stuff you get at some places. Everything felt top-quality. Plus, everything is zabiha halal certified, which was really important for me!
The customer service was great too. It’s clear the owner really takes good care of his customers. The portions were generous and everything came out fresh and hot.
If you’re in the area and looking for quality hot chicken, definitely give Al’s a try. I’ll absolutely be back for more!
If you are a foodie, don’t waste your money here. We tried the mild tenders, hot tenders, fries, cole slaw and mac and cheese. The chicken was by far the best part. It was sweet and had some spice and was greasy. The fries had a ton of red seasoning but still didn’t seem salty. They’re crinkle cut and likely Sysco. The mac and cheese was basically Stouffer’s and tasted like nacho cheese over noodles. The sauces that came with the chicken, both the spicy and regular, tasted like mayo and nothing else. The bread was regular sandwich bread toasted on a grill with butter- this wasn’t bad, but I could make it at home. I wish I cooked at home instead and don’t want anyone else to get disappointed like I did. We also waited about 40 minutes for the food to come out despite being the only people in the store, and the food was still cold. The ambiance inside is odd as they have built up the counter so you can’t see anything going on in the kitchen at all. I recommend checking out a different chicken place!
I am not rating service or atmosphere because I was not in the restaurant.
