I love local restaurants that serve well loved and established recipes that reflect the history of the area. Al’s is that kind of place. I had the dinner sampler and the apple strudel. Delicious, homemade food that’s filling and affordable.
The cabbage rolls tasted just like my great aunt’s and took me back 40 years to her kitchen in Kenmore.
The apple strudel filling was the canned kind but the pastry was well made and it hit the spot after a filling meal.

Best cabbage rolls ever, better than Mom’s. Sides are also very good. This is not a sit-down and they wait on you place. More like a lunch counter, you stand in line and order and get your food immediately. You fill your drink and get a table and dump your trash. But they have always been like that. No atmosphere, so not a place to take a first date unless you want to impress them with very good and reasonably priced food.

Iconic, local luncheon spot. Hungarian, Slavic fare that is delicious. Vegetarian options include perogies and saurkraut. In house smoked meats and sausage that have been featured in Bon Appetite and Gourmet magazines. If you want the real deal, this is it!

My husband and I went there for the first time today. I had chicken paprikash; he had a sausage sandwich. The portions were very generous, and everything was excellent! I’m Hungarian, and this food is the real deal. It reminded me of my great grandmother’s cooking. We came from Canton, but will definitely visit again.

Great restaurant to get some Balkan favorites, very large portions at a good price, and very tasty. Cafeteria style, line was long, but moved quickly. We’ve been to the market side quite a few times but this was the first time trying the restaurant.

This was my first time here and it is an absolute treasure! I ordered the dinner sampler and everything was fantastic! I ordered one pierogi, mashed potatoes and green beans for my two year old. Next time I’m in Barberton I will have to stop here again. Thanks!!

Amazing Hungarian food. It is so hard to choose what to get. The Hungarian sausage is great. I usually get a combo. The cabbage rolls are good as is the chicken paprikash. I highly recommend this place.

OMG if you want good, we used to call it “hunky food”, you have to go to Al’s. Slovenian sausage, cabbage rolls, chicken paprikas, sauerkraut! Yum!
