This is the most rad place in the greater Milwaukee area! The pizza is incredible, I loved the light, crispy crust and seasoning….. So so good!
The Lightning Rod is what you NEED to get! Crispy seasoned outside, chuck full of cheese – can’t go wrong with a foot long cheese stick!
The atmosphere is incredible! It’s the 80’s in a pizza shop and I’m coming back, every time I’m in the Milwaukee area!

Drove from Indiana just to try the Mozzarella Lightning Rods and it was well worth the drive and well worth the wait to find time to make the trip to get them! They were crispy and cheesy, full of flavor – the marinara dipping sauce was delicious too. So ideally we had to get 4 to make the trip worth it right? There isnt anywhere to dine in so be aware of that.

Drove all the way from the Florida Panhandle to come here and I would do it again. Absolutely absurd in the best ways. Thin crust pizza is the best I’ve had. Phenomenal, friendly service as well!

Easily visible on street corner. Parking lot is small and finding parking may be a challenge. Being unfamiliar with the area, we parked on a side street a block away, making it a short walk to Aphonso’s.
Stepping in Alphonso’s you are transported into a collection reminiscent of the 1970’s through 1980’s. Masters of the Universe, E.T., Gremlins, the original Nintendo, a pinball machine, Simpsons, Goodies and more welcome you.
Oh yeah, we came for the food too. They are famous for that fried giant mozzarella stick which is good. We also got a pizza with pepperoni and peppers, again good. However my personal favorite and recommendation is the Knuckle Sandwich. For $12 I got a substantial sandwich with a large to go container of fries. Sandwich tasted amazing and was filling. Fries were plentiful and delicious.

This place is always amazing! This is the 2nd time I’ve gone here with my partner and the pickle pizza never fails! The lightning rod mozzarella sticks are also definitely worth it to get! I love the atmosphere and all of the retro items inside! Makes for an awesome experience!

8/8/25 My daughter saw this business online & immediately honed in one the giant mozzarella cheese stick better known as the Lightning Rod. 1st let me explain why I gave the Atmosphere a 2 star….the parking lot is small & if more than 1 car is in the lot, I could see it being a problem to get out. Secondly it was rather warm upon entering the establishment to the point I was sweating while sitting down. There was no air or even a fan to keep the customer cool while waiting for the food! Now the food….my daughter LOVED IT! It was indeed big. She didn’t say anything about the sauce & what it tasted like but the cheese stayed hot/warm long enough for ber to finish what she wanted to eat. It was a bit pricey BUT that was a lot of cheese! Front counter was friendly & if ever we visited Wisconsin again…..I’m sure she’ll want to make a return visit!

Alphonso’s has “THE LIGHTING ROD”!!! Get you 1, you will not be disappointed! I was speechless after seeing how large it actually was! Also, their customer service is top tier!! Tony, was cool, patient, and quick with my order! While waiting I was able to relive my childhood.. They had every action figure you can think of Including a Nintendo that you can play! I’ll definitely be back soon

LOVED it here. I kept seeing the GIANT mozzarella sticks on social media and had to try it out for myself. They have a bunch of cool action figures, garbage pail kids cards and other memorabilia that sent me back to a much simpler time in life. While waiting for the food, my group watched teenage mutant ninja turtles. The food was definitely worth the wait! Side note: they do not have inside seating. My group drove to a park about two min away and enjoyed our pizza and monstrous mozzarella sticks.

Alphonso’s is legit. The owners are great and their tribute to Gen X and the 80s is an awesome reminder of how great many of our childhoods were.
Traveled 1,600 miles to try the the World Famous
Lightning Rod Mozzarella Sticks and they did not disappoint! They were hot, fresh and the cheese pull needed a ladder!
Wish I was closer. I might have to see about how I can sell these locally as they’d be a hit.
