I recently visited Alo Bar for their Valentine’s Day menu. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate — perfect for a special night out. The restaurant felt lively but still romantic, which I really liked.
The servers were very nice and welcoming throughout the evening. They were attentive without being intrusive, and they even offered us champagne, which was a lovely touch and made the night feel more celebratory.
The Valentine’s menu included a lot of courses, which I appreciated because it felt like a full experience. Everything was beautifully presented and thoughtfully plated. However, overall the food didn’t quite meet my expectations. Some dishes were too salty, and a few flavors felt overly strong, which made them a bit overwhelming rather than balanced.
While I enjoyed the ambiance and the warm service, the food itself didn’t fully impress me. It was a nice evening overall, but for a special occasion menu, I was hoping for something more refined and memorable.

To my surprised, food quality deteriorated and main courses taste soso! Appetisers are ok. I think the alo group opened too many restaurants and quality go down! Tonight the lobster is awfully bad! Frozen lobster used and also not cooked properly! The lobster meat feels so meshy and oily. Could not finish the lobster. Lobsters are so accessible in Canada and they should strictly use live fresh lobster. These frozen ones are just BAD. Peppercorn sauce of the steak also not done right! Disappointed!

Pleasantly surprised by quality of food and service. Foie gras appetizers definitely one of the best I have ever had. Au jus that came with steak was delicate, intense and flavourful at the same time. Octopus was juicy and perfectly cooked. Overall 9.5/10 (points deducted for unsatisfying old fashion and negroni that were missing something)

Excellent birthday celebration at Alobar Yorkville tonight. Highlights were the himachi crudo, lobster bites, and the sea bass with white bean puree…delish!!
And of course la crème de la crème is their mille feuilles dessert!! Super.. although it was a very busy night, once the server came to our table (about 15 minutes after we were seated) everything went smoothly.

Was suggested by a friend, we were not disappointed. Delicious food, attentive excellent service. This is an award-winning restaurant with a Michelin star chef and world class cuisine. I can’t say enough good things about it. The ambiance was elegant yet relaxed. One of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a while. Such a great experience from start to finish. The food was outstanding, I had the ricotta mezzelune, 10/10 no notes! The vibe was perfect, and the service was warm and professional. This restaurant clearly takes pride in what they do, and it shows. Can’t wait to return!

Great food and service. Highly recommend you try the foie gras and wedge salad. I’ve been to both Aloette and Alo but Alobar is my favorite. Will definitely come back.
