My recent visit to Alo Vietnamese Restaurant & Bar was fantastic from start to finish! The atmosphere is a great blend of casual and trendy, making it perfect for both a quick meal or a night out with friends as the drinks are splendid!!
Highlights of the Visit:
Delicious Food: The food was exceptional. I had the hot stone Beef Pho and the broth was rich and flavorful. The portion sizes were very generous, and everything tasted incredibly fresh. My friend ordered the grilled pork banh mi, and it looked and smelled divine—definitely on my list for next time!
Outstanding Service: The service really stood out. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed for a great dining experience.
Great Ambiance & Drinks: I loved the modern decor and the overall vibe of the place. They also have a wide selection of drinks, including unique options like the Lychee Mojito, which was the perfect balance of sweet and refreshing.
Overall I am coming back again for more delicious food!!!

What a wonderful surprise! We found this place via Yelp! when family had a seriously weather-delayed flight into Dulles. Alo’s decor was inviting. We thought we were going to dine in next door, but the warm atmosphere and genuine greeting from Lani made us stay. So glad we did!! The wings, the hearty Short Rib in the Pho, and Garlic Noodle plate (extra veg & fried tofu) were outstanding — and we’ve eaten Vietnamese all around the DMV! We don’t live near Alo’s by many miles, but we’ve already decided to go back soon. The service and food were really great— they prep sauces in-house! Check it out and ask for Lani!

Visited Alo two times with very different experiences. The first visit a few months ago was fabulous. It has a trendy vibe, great music with a great Vietnamese menu. Our service was great and the we were excited to go back. The food was all delicious – calamari, spring rolls, vermicelli and pho. On our most recent visit – the service was terrible. There was only 1 other table and no one working seemed to care that someone had arrived even though there was plenty of staff around. When we did get seated we were ignored for a very long time before finally we finally went to the bar Fri ask for service. Drinks took forever. The menu was different this time and the servers seemed to not know much about the items when we asked questions. This time we ordered avocado rolls (sold out), chicken skewers, Alo animal fries (yum!), shrimp taco, vermicelli and pho. Though the shrimp taco flavor was delicious – at $5.50 it came with 1 shrimp! In asking if this was correct – our waitress wasn’t sure but then came back to report that it on comes with 1 shrimp in a regular size taco shell- basically 1 bite…. Insane. The rest of the food was good but not like the first time – definitely a disappointing second visit. Not sure what happened…

Check your order and double check your bill!!! Got my order wrong twice. Upon ordering initially, I asked for a substitution and inquired about what part of the chicken was used for the dish. My substitution was confirmed twice by the server. The substitution was not honored, I had to send it back to be remade. Then upon biting into the remake, the chicken meat was dark when I was told it was breast. Also, we ordered 4 drinks on Happy Hour. We were charged full price for all 4 drinks on the check and charged for the dish that was not as promised x2!! The food was eh. Atmosphere was mid. Proceed with caution.

Alo Vietnam Restaurant & Bar did a phenomenal job hosting and catering our team dinner on December 9, 2025. From the very first planning conversation to the last song of the night, everything was handled with professionalism, warmth, and genuine care. The food selection was outstanding, thoughtfully chosen, beautifully prepared, and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. With 35 people in attendance, that’s no small feat, and every single person left happy.
A special thank-you goes to Eve, the manager, who truly went above and beyond. Her food and beverage recommendations were spot-on, her coordination was seamless, and she made the entire process easy and stress-free. The staff working the event—Miguel, Lani, and Briana—were equally exceptional: friendly, attentive, accommodating, and a real pleasure to work with. Service like this still matters, and Alo clearly understands that.

What a great find in the middle of a residential neighborhood in Herndon!! The atmosphere was great for a dinner with a friend, it was quiet enough to talk, the windows brought in light and the space was airy. We ordered the Alo Vietnam rice bowl and Alo Vietnam vermicelli with summer rolls and wine. I had a craving for noodles and this hit the spot with a delicious variety of chicken, beef, pork, shrimp and an egg roll. The wait staff was attentive and very helpful. I’ll definitely be back.

I’ve been coming to Alo the past 2 years twice a week for my lunch from 12-1pm. I always order the same and most of the times the servers are always nice and welcoming. Couple days ago me and my coworker visited Alo as usually, only one thing really annoyed me, my server Isac that I remember his name for the name tag on his shirt and the lil attitude he gave when I told him that table dirty and he said “The table is like that” when I literally wipe the crumbs over the table with my own hand and he still didn’t clean it. Just little things that servers can improve to make a customers experience better that I guess doesn’t take longer than 2 min. The food as always good and his service after that was actually not bad. As I said just little things that someone who gets tip for can do better.

Last night I went with some friends to eat because we craved a little Pho, the food was on point point.
The service is good, they made us feel welcome from beginning to end, our waitress Ariana was very attentive. We also tried some of their cocktails, they have a bartender named Miguel who clearly knows what he is doing, I recommend the old fashion and the Guava Tropical.
We enjoyed this place and we are definitely coming back

My friend and I had a delightful lunch experience at a Vietnamese restaurant in the area a while back. Spring rolls were cooked to perfection with a crispy exterior and moist interior. Beef pho was warm and full of flavor. We loved the texture of the perfectly grilled squid in the mixed vegetable salad, which was even more delicious with the dipping sauce. The beef was perfectly seasoned and paired well with the rice. The interior decor of the restaurant was lovely, and the large windows let in plenty of sunlight. I highly recommend this place.
