Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the croquetas de setas, potato wedges, and the octopus — each dish was perfectly prepared and full of flavor. The seafood paella was outstanding, and the beef was so tender it literally melted in our mouths. If you love churros, they are a must-order here!

The staff were incredibly accommodating and attentive, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. Even after a very busy night, the chef/owner came out to greet us with the biggest smile, which added such a personal touch. We will definitely be back to explore more of the menu.

First time in Sarasota, was looking for good place for lunch. Alma exceeded all expectations. Food was absolutely amazing, ordered Beef Cheeks with Mashed potatoes it was simply delicious. Friend ordered Lamb with Walnut Romesco same story – didn’t have enough words to describe how good it was. Nice cosy place, friendly owner and his wife.Highly recommended

Fantastic evening at Alma de España! The food was amazing, the service was top notch and the atmosphere was great! We definitely recommend not only the restaurant, but the specific tapas we ordered: the beef carpaccio, the pulpo and the lamb. One better than the other! The Linages Reserva wine paired really well with the food. Our server, Daniel Ortega, made the experience even better, being attentive, cordial, very knowledgeable about the dishes and wine, and, simply by being just so friendly and nice! Our shared dessert was the chocolate flan. It sealed the whole experience! What a wonderful time we had! Kudos to Alma de España! We will definitely come back frequently!

This is a small, yet quaint Spanish restaurant in the heart of Southside Village. The food is superb and the staff is friendly. There is nothing like sharing paella and enjoying tapas, while sipping on great Spanish wine. And yes, they carve the jamon “to order”! Highly recommend!

The best Spanish food we’ve ever had, including food we’ve eaten in Spain itself. Our waiter, Adrian, thoroughly explained the menu to us, and said we were in good hands with the Michelin trained chef/owner Elier. These guys really know what they’re doing, as the tapas we had ( Patatas Brava and Cordero) were the best ever. We wanted to order a seafood Paella and Adrian informed us they could do it with squid ink ( Paella Negra)! Black Paella, which most places do not even offer, with seafood and a massive Lobster was an explosion of flavors! This was, by far, the best Paella we ever had, including Paellas in Spain. Can’t wait to come back for the super quality, taste, and excellent service.

I’m still thinking about this pasta, can’t lie. This is another little hidden gem in Sarasota’s Hillview neighborhood. The owner/chef is from a small city in southern Spain and makes everything— even the pasta noodles— from scratch. The salad was divine and the pasta was loaded with perfectly seasoned chicken. The leftovers held up well too. They’ve only been open two months so probably why it was empty but the food was really good. They had a solid drink and wine menu but I didn’t order from it.

It’s our first time in Sarasota and after a week surprisingly repetitive food, we were lucky and relieved to go to Alma. The food was thoughtfully crafted and well-executed. Every dish highlighted the flavours of the key ingredient. It’s hard to believe how humble ingredients like lettuce, beets, potato can taste so good under the right chef. Even our 5 year old had rave reviews for everything. Lastly, Chef Elier and staff were so friendly and accommodating. Overall a great experience to end our trip and we really appreciated the hospitality.

During my visit to Sarasota, I discovered a new restaurant called Alma de España, which is highly rated among the top dining spots in town. I decided to visit on Sunday, and to my surprise, the restaurant was packed with people enjoying a variety of appealing dishes. I ordered the special paella with shrimp, and I must say it is the most delicious paella I have ever eaten. Alma de España truly lives up to its reputation as a top-notch restaurant. The service was very professional, and the food was amazing. It will definitely be my first choice every time I visit Sarasota.

This was such a happy surprise to visit and dine! Actually, the food was very good and I’m speaking with a lot of experience in Spanish food being that I lived in Madrid, Spain for over 20 years ! The gazpacho was the most authentic I’ve tasted outside of my own house anywhere outside Spain. The other dishes were authentic and exquisitely delicious! The chef came out to talk with me and he and his wife were very friendly and warm. I’m a bit of an art snob so my rating about the atmosphere, had to do with decor.

Alma de España is exactly what its name promises—the soul of Spain, beautifully brought to life. Every dish feels intentional, from the classic tapas executed with precision to the seasonal selections that show real respect for ingredients and timing. This isn’t just a menu; it’s a conversation between tradition and creativity.

Alma de España doesn’t rush you. It encourages you to slow down, savor, and connect—exactly the way great food is meant to be enjoyed.

“Alma de España — The soul of Spain, shared.”
