We did a search of restaurants near us cause we were looking for something new to us. We came across Allgauer’s. When we got there, it was no longer Allgauer’s. But now the Spotlight Lounge. We found a seat and waited. There were only 2 men working, one being the bartender and one being his helper. We ordered drinks and were extremely disappointed. It was one of the worst drinks I’ve tasted in a long time. I don’t know if it was the combination or if the pineapple juice was going bad. Then we got the menu, and to be honest, there wasn’t a great selection to choose from. We ended up just ordering an appetizer because it was the only thing either of us felt would be to our liking. The quesadilla weren’t too bad. Sadly, this will be a one and done kinda place for us.

I went for breakfast. I liked the way they wrapped the toast in the patterned paper- I had never seen this before. The meal shown was $15, including coffee. I guess that’s okay for hotel pricing. But the potatoes were not edible- the oil was either old or burnt. Nice atmosphere though, and the server was great.

Food: 4/5 (a little pricey, but good food)
Service: 4/5 (service was good. The main server was pushy but got the job done.)
Atmosphere: 5/5 (Beautiful and clean environment)

Allgauer’s Restaurant/Spotlight Lounge is good! I found this great restaurant inside the Double Tree Hotel, located in Alsip, IL, near Chicago. It’s convenient to have a restaurant onsight, and I’m glad to have the experience.

The food was good! The price point is excessive, but the quality of the food is amazing. I indulged in some of the best hummus I had in years and enjoyed some quesadillas. The food was good!

The service was good. The servers were quick and on top of their jobs. However, the main server appeared a little pushy and rushed a lot. However, he did his job with passion and efficiency.

The atmosphere was amazing! I love the cleanliness and classyness of the restaurant. Lovely place to date or talk around the table.

Allgauer’s Restaurant was great! If you’re staying at the double tree in Alsip, this is a good place to eat.

The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. I ordered the Red Fish based on their recommendation. The description of the nachos made it difficult for me not to order and the presentation and taste did NOT disappoint my palate. The bathrooms were clean and fresh. I would definitely return and recommend the Allgauer’s Restaurant.

It has the essentials. Decent for drinks, but I would probably grab food somewhere else unless it’s a large inconvenience to leave the hotel.

Although I arrived just about closing, Memo, the staff person, was great! Very attentive and didn’t rush me at all. He even let me stay a bit last closing. Great drinks and the food is very very good. Next time I’m in the area I’ll be sure to stop by!

We had an absolutely delicious meal on Saturday, May 13! The atmosphere in the lounge was fine, though a bit noisy at first. I ordered the turkey club with homemade chips. It was amazing, and enough to share! My husband ordered the cheeseburger with fries. It was too much for him so I had a couple of bites, it was so good (I couldn’t finish my sandwich). Brought the sandwich home to eat later, it was still good. Big portions and great service. Try it out, I think you’ll like it!

My wife and I were doing some shopping in the area and wanted to grab a bite somewhere we hadn’t been before. Looking on Google maps, we saw this place…and then realized it was inside the Doubletree. We decided to give it a try…

PROs: Great staff: Attentive, friendly, funny. Food was amazing. Definitely wasn’t expecting it to be that good considering where this d@mn restaurant was located. Steak was cooked perfectly. Great presentation. Piping hot. Just really well put together.

CONs: Very small seating area. Picture a large walk-in closet with a bar & stools. No speciality drink menu – though it was a full service bar. No hostess to seat you. We almost turned around and walked out had it not been for a friendly drunk lady (possibly more drunk than friendly) that told us we could sit and someone would wait on us. Drinks were just ok. They were strong, which doesn’t seems like something to complain about…but they seem hastily thrown together. I guess if the goal is to get a little wasted then the drinks were perfect.

All in all, the food seemed way above its class compared to the ambience. Almost a shame it was served in such a place. And it’s not that place was bad – it wasn’t. It just didn’t match the level of the food. So I would say the food was FIVE stars…but the setting was a TWO or THREE. Definitely would go again tho!

This is definitely a local place – one of the few food options within walking distance on the Double Tree. Food and service were good.

Decided to go out for a quick impromptu dinner with a friend. This place to eat ( not sure the ambience convinced me enough to say restaurant ) was located inside the main entrance of the hotel. I can definitely see people coming for a quick drink at the bar though. We sat down and we’re given plastic cups of water ( maybe covid related ). Looking over the menu it was really difficult matching the prices of the meals to the really laid back vibe. Not saying that’s necessarily bad, but when ordering a $27 meal and being served on a paper plate….uh no thanks. However, we both order food that wasn’t bad but maybe not exactly worth the price. Salmon – green beans – and a potato like pancake side. I ordered a mango meatloaf (wasn’t bad but the mango was very subtle) – garlic mash potatoes- green beans. The service was appreciated and the food wasn’t bad but a nice glass plate and a slightly cheaper meal would help.
