If I could give this place more than five stars, I absolutely would! From the moment I took my first bite, I knew Cheesesteaks and More in Charles City is the real deal. The owner, Antoine (originally from Philadelphia), clearly knows how to do cheesesteaks right. You can taste the Philly authenticity in every bite. As someone who’s had the real thing in Philly, I was blown away – it felt like I was back on South Street enjoying a classic cheesesteak, but here I am in Iowa!

I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak “North Philly style” with all the fixings, and it was incredible. The sandwich was loaded with tender, thinly-sliced steak, gooey melted cheese, grilled onions, peppers – all the good stuff. Every mouthful was savory, juicy bliss. It’s honestly rare to find a cheesesteak this good outside of Philadelphia or New York City, but Antoine nailed it. The flavor, the texture, the portions – everything was spot on. I kept closing my eyes and just savoring because it was that good!

And guess what – it’s not just cheesesteaks here. The menu has so much more to love. I tried the loaded fries and they were out-of-this-world tasty (think crispy fries piled high with cheese, steak, and toppings…yum!). There are also other sandwiches and specials that sounded amazing (can’t wait to try the chicken parm sandwich next time). It’s clear they put as much love and flavor into all their menu items as they do their famous cheesesteaks. You could eat here multiple times a week and find something new and delicious each visit.

On top of the fantastic food, the service is fast and super friendly. Antoine and his team make you feel right at home from the second you walk in. Even when it’s busy, they hustle to get orders out quickly without ever losing their smile or warmth. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers. The whole vibe in the restaurant is fun and lively – it’s like eating with family and friends. At one point, Antoine was even singing while cooking our food, and let me tell you, the man can sing! His voice is so good he could audition for The Voice or America’s Got Talent, no joke.
It turned our meal into a delightful dinner-and-a-show experience. His energy and passion (for both cooking and singing) are infectious, and it just makes the atmosphere awesome.

Now, I’ll be honest, the place might not look like much from the outside; it’s a humble little spot that’s easy to miss if you’re not looking. But don’t let that fool you. Inside, the focus is all on the food and it absolutely delivers. The cheesesteaks and everything here are totally worth it.
This is truly a hidden gem in Charles City. In fact, it’s the kind of gem you almost want to keep secret so it doesn’t get too crowded, but Antoine and his crew deserve all the success in the world. Cheesesteaks and More is a local treasure that I’ll be fiercely loyal to from now on. Do yourself a favor and check this place out – it’s a 5-star experience through and through. I’m already planning my next visit and thinking about what I’m going to try next time!

*** EDIT: learned that Antoine was not actually the owner. Sorry I was misinformed. However, he made an incredible Philly still!! But the owner Joe IS actually the one from Philly and taught Antoine. incredible voice. Check it out.

Damn! This was good food!! The service was great, Megan and the staff were very friendly. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very welcoming. This was my first time visiting, I got the southern Philly and a side of mozzarella sticks. I was definitely satisfied with this experience and the food. You will definitely leave full, for the amount of food you get it is worth the price. I hope this business takes off for sure and we get one in New Hampton!

Stopped by from out of town, so glad the decision was made. Best philly I’ve had in Iowa, dessert options were stellar as well! Employees couldn’t of been nicer! Don’t worry about the price! I would reccomend getting a full and sharing…

New this week to the location but have had a great food truck the last couple of years. Now we can get the AMAZING food whenever we want!!

Let’s start with the reason you’re going there – the Cheesesteak!!! You might end up overthinking this one as you have options!!! Want it over fries, roll, lettuce, Doritos? Pick your protein, cheese and toppings!!! The roll is perfect, it’s got a bit of chew also holds everything together without overpowering the other flavors! Also, it’s filled, no skimping so be hungry or plan to have some later. We gotta fries with it and everything was HOT and with great flavor. They also had fresh made cannoli, which was as if was made in Jersey!! (My understanding was mom was visiting from Jersey so it basically was!!) Great finish!!

Tried their Friday breakfast, hoping it becomes more often but also like the Friday treat!! A number of options, tried the bowl with steak. Wow!!! Great stuff, especially with all three grilled vegetables!!

Owners (I’m pretty sure) were super friendly and excited to be crazy busy!! Loved the fact they took a moment to chat with some other relocated Jersey folk! Thanks for sharing the bonus krimpet, as well!!

All in all, you have to go here!!! Great add to the area and worth driving for!!! Can’t wait to try their other sandwiches and if they expand into pasta and soup options we’ll be checking it out!!

A decent Cheesesteak for where it’s at. Meat was subpar IMO but I’m from Philly so IYKYK. That being said, the roll was good as were onions and cheese, had the provolone. Service was excellent as was the music being played.

Store on Gilbert opens Nov. 1

Just got back –
Pros: food was pretty freaking good. I highly recommend the fried broccoli and cheese. The cheese steaks were the best I’ve had in Iowa. Staff is very friendly
Cons: Atmosphere was a bit lacking; the acoustics are off- made it hard to have a conversation. BUT- take it to go, man.
We will definitely be back. I want to try the mozzarella sticks. Bring a $50

I was in during a slower period. The service given by the cashier was outstanding! Never had a cheese steak before and I took forever to order the man was so patient. The signature sauce is to die for! I absolutely love the idea of the Christmas time free combos they offer 10/10 humans for that one! Will definitely be going back

I’m not a big fan of cheesesteak, but I will drive the 240 mile round trip anytime to experience this place again! The meat was cooked to perfection, the bun was not too heavy but wasn’t weak either. The cheese sticks were some of the best I’ve ever had. I would say they deserve 10 stars out of 5 and thanks to my friend for showing me this place.

We ordered from the restaurant for our company meeting. We didn’t have enough for a catered meal but everyone was about to personalize their order. I emailed the order in with the names and It was all ready to go in a heat bag exactly on time! I even added an order on when I got there and it went seamlessly! Thank you so much for the awesome service!

Food is good but expensive. Moved here from Chicago over 2 years ago so I was really excited to see a cheesesteak place. The food is good but I’ve had better so that is why rated as I did. You actually get MORE for your money in Chicago for a cheesesteak & fries vs. just the sandwich here. Atmosphere is like a fast food restaurant (old Taco Johns building).
