I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak “North Philly style” with all the fixings, and it was incredible. The sandwich was loaded with tender, thinly-sliced steak, gooey melted cheese, grilled onions, peppers – all the good stuff. Every mouthful was savory, juicy bliss. It’s honestly rare to find a cheesesteak this good outside of Philadelphia or New York City, but Antoine nailed it. The flavor, the texture, the portions – everything was spot on. I kept closing my eyes and just savoring because it was that good!
And guess what – it’s not just cheesesteaks here. The menu has so much more to love. I tried the loaded fries and they were out-of-this-world tasty (think crispy fries piled high with cheese, steak, and toppings…yum!). There are also other sandwiches and specials that sounded amazing (can’t wait to try the chicken parm sandwich next time). It’s clear they put as much love and flavor into all their menu items as they do their famous cheesesteaks. You could eat here multiple times a week and find something new and delicious each visit.
On top of the fantastic food, the service is fast and super friendly. Antoine and his team make you feel right at home from the second you walk in. Even when it’s busy, they hustle to get orders out quickly without ever losing their smile or warmth. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers. The whole vibe in the restaurant is fun and lively – it’s like eating with family and friends. At one point, Antoine was even singing while cooking our food, and let me tell you, the man can sing! His voice is so good he could audition for The Voice or America’s Got Talent, no joke.
It turned our meal into a delightful dinner-and-a-show experience. His energy and passion (for both cooking and singing) are infectious, and it just makes the atmosphere awesome.
Now, I’ll be honest, the place might not look like much from the outside; it’s a humble little spot that’s easy to miss if you’re not looking. But don’t let that fool you. Inside, the focus is all on the food and it absolutely delivers. The cheesesteaks and everything here are totally worth it.
This is truly a hidden gem in Charles City. In fact, it’s the kind of gem you almost want to keep secret so it doesn’t get too crowded, but Antoine and his crew deserve all the success in the world. Cheesesteaks and More is a local treasure that I’ll be fiercely loyal to from now on. Do yourself a favor and check this place out – it’s a 5-star experience through and through. I’m already planning my next visit and thinking about what I’m going to try next time!
*** EDIT: learned that Antoine was not actually the owner. Sorry I was misinformed. However, he made an incredible Philly still!! But the owner Joe IS actually the one from Philly and taught Antoine. incredible voice. Check it out.

Let’s start with the reason you’re going there – the Cheesesteak!!! You might end up overthinking this one as you have options!!! Want it over fries, roll, lettuce, Doritos? Pick your protein, cheese and toppings!!! The roll is perfect, it’s got a bit of chew also holds everything together without overpowering the other flavors! Also, it’s filled, no skimping so be hungry or plan to have some later. We gotta fries with it and everything was HOT and with great flavor. They also had fresh made cannoli, which was as if was made in Jersey!! (My understanding was mom was visiting from Jersey so it basically was!!) Great finish!!
Tried their Friday breakfast, hoping it becomes more often but also like the Friday treat!! A number of options, tried the bowl with steak. Wow!!! Great stuff, especially with all three grilled vegetables!!
Owners (I’m pretty sure) were super friendly and excited to be crazy busy!! Loved the fact they took a moment to chat with some other relocated Jersey folk! Thanks for sharing the bonus krimpet, as well!!
All in all, you have to go here!!! Great add to the area and worth driving for!!! Can’t wait to try their other sandwiches and if they expand into pasta and soup options we’ll be checking it out!!
Just got back –
Pros: food was pretty freaking good. I highly recommend the fried broccoli and cheese. The cheese steaks were the best I’ve had in Iowa. Staff is very friendly
Cons: Atmosphere was a bit lacking; the acoustics are off- made it hard to have a conversation. BUT- take it to go, man.
We will definitely be back. I want to try the mozzarella sticks. Bring a $50
