A Seattle classic! Stopped by Alki Spud for lunch while exploring the Alki Beach area and it totally hit the spot.
2 Piece Fish Only Meal ($16.99) — The fish was perfectly golden and crispy on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside. Nice generous pieces with a light, crunchy batter that wasn’t greasy. The fries were solid—classic thick-cut and well-seasoned.
Cup of Chowder ($4.99) — Creamy and hearty with good chunks of clam. A must-have on a cold Seattle day—pairs perfectly with the fish and chips.
The Special ($24.00) — Great deal if you’re feeding more than one or really hungry.
No-frills, counter-service spot with that old-school fish shack vibe. It’s not fancy, but it’s exactly what you want for classic Pacific Northwest fish and chips. The location near Alki Beach makes it a great stop if you’re walking along the water.
Total: ~$64 for two meals with drinks and extras. Fair pricing for the portion sizes and quality.

Love the atmosphere and that you can get a view of the water. I’m used to the ‘chips’ in fish and chips being a bigger cut, but I love that these are thin. The fish is crusted, not batter heavy, and a good portion size. Coleslaw wasn’t flavorful but it was refreshing to have with the fried stuff. There’s malt vinegar and a garlic infused one that’s really good. Has two floors, top floor has a better view but not wheelchair accessible. I love the vibes and would go back, perfect beach day lunch.

The food was alright but for 20 bucks for cod fish and fried I don’t think so.

However the tartar is worth it, I’d rather get the tartar and go to ivars.

The upstairs has a good view, except the Christmas decor they put up involved writing all over the windows so you can’t see.

They have parking.

There isn’t really service, the food wasn’t that good for the price.

Nice spot along Alki beach to grab food. If you are sitting in the outside seating area, note it can get quite windy so secure any lightweight items like napkins so they don’t get swept away.

After spending over 30 years visiting Alki Beach in West Seattle, I finally decided to try Alki Spud Fish & Chips, and it certainly lived up to my expectations. I could smell the tantalizing aroma of freshly fried fish wafting through the air as I approached the restaurant. The cozy atmosphere inside felt inviting, and the sounds of people enjoying their meals.

I opted to sample both the regular fish and chips and the halibut, and I was thoroughly impressed by both dishes. The regular fish had a perfectly crispy batter that gave way to tender, flaky fish. It was rich, balanced, not overly greasy, and paired wonderfully with their house-made tartar sauce.

The halibut was also a treat. It was incredibly fresh and had a slightly sweeter taste that complemented the light, crunchy batter beautifully.

I savored each bite, and the portions were generous—definitely worth the price. The friendly staff added to the pleasant experience.

I can wholeheartedly say that it won’t take another 30 years before I return to indulge in this delicious seafood gem again!

Love the food, the service and the views!

I’ve seen a lot of reviews about the fries, however mine were excellent, natural cut style and were not overdone nor soggy or greasy.

2 fish and fries meal was filling and you get a large portion of everything.

I recommend upgrading to the 4oz Tartar sauce for an extra $0.50. It’s well worth it.

The Tartar sauce is amazing as well, probably the best I’ve ever had really.

I will definitely be back, loved everything about the experience!

Super casual spot with parking in the back. Really amazing fish and chips. Loved their coleslaw once I added a touch of malt vinegar to it. Coleslaw was crisp and lightly dressed, not mayo soup so extra points for that. Chowder was delicious too. They load you up with tartar sauce for fish n chips. Fries were crispy and withstood vinegar and salt dressing. Definitely would eat there again.

We love getting fish and chips from Spuds at Alki beach. Love the mini statue of liberty too. The beach is beautiful but is a bit rocky and has sea weed.

I have been going to spuds on and off for over 70 years. When I was a kid was my favorite go to place just had some delivered and was worst food I ever had fries were burnt and disgusting had the cod and was HORRIBLE edges were hard and unable to chew. Fish portions 1/2 size I’m used to there. Super small. Tasteless cod was so thin was barely there and so dry and chewy was like jerky/ shoe leather. My heart broke. Called them up and spoke to acting manager who had too bad so sad I don’t give a crap attitude. I WONT b back. So sad a historic favorite fish and chips place run to the ground

I live here in West Seattle and I’ve been a customer for decades. I want to strongly compliment the young black man who was the cook: He made everything perfect! As in: perfect PERFECT !! WOW! The other male who was helping at the counter was outstanding and friendly as well. I’m glad I stopped by. Just finished eating it and every bite was delicious … and as I said, it’s simply perfect ! Thank you !! ❤️
