I’m pretty late to Alfred’s Cafe but better late than never, I always knew of this place, drove by it most of my life but never actually started going there until recently.

This has to be one of the best places for a good breakfast, the serving size and food quality is fantastic and I believe it’s on par with their prices, we received our meals fast even on a busy day. There isn’t a lot of good places to get breakfast around Tacoma anymore but this place is great.

Servers and staff are very friendly, the atmosphere is super cool lots of historic pictures and items from Tacoma, the building itself has a cool history as well, I’m a huge fan of their music choices with a good mix of classic and alternative music that fits the atmosphere.

I’ll continue to go there and try more things, but this is definitely one of my new favorite places. Highly recommended.

We haven’t been to Alfred’s in many years. The restaurant interior is nothing special, so if you are looking for anything at all fancy this would not be a good choice. If however, you want good food large portions, and good service then you may want to give Alfred’s a try. The food was delicious! Two special callouts, the bacon was fantastic, and the biscuit was huge, soft, and fresh. The server was friendly and provided great service.

The service was excellent and they got the food out so fast we were shocked!

Bacon is so peppery for me but good breakfast over all. Parallel street parking available. Beautiful view of a bridge outside the restaurant. Inside has high ceilings, booths, regular dining seats and high table and chairs. Vibe is kinda retro 60’s and there’s TV all over. Service is quick.

Oh mahn! I am SO late to the party! I can’t believe I am just getting to eat here!! The food was very yummy and the portions are most eggs-cellant! I had scrambled eggs with the Loaded Grits. I’ve had grits before but not like this!! They were delicious, (and I don’t even like bacon!) The price was decent and while I didn’t have anything to take home like the other folks at my table, I am stuffed!! I will be back to try some other items on their lovely menu!!

Alfred’s is known for comfort food. Our work friends meet us here once a month for breakfast. Lots of great choices. Everyone has their favorite breakfasts.
The meals here are ample and the coffee refills are frequent. Omelet options are numerous. Pancakes are a hit.

The exterior might be a bit rough, but this is a great place for a casual meal. Think of it as combining the best of a good diner and bar food. The menu is wide-ranging, from burgers to salads to all-day breakfasts, and some ‘next level’s sandwiches like the Patty Melt and a Reuben. The bread which came with my omelette was truly remarkable.
Prompt and helpful service, and a ‘neighborhood bar’ atmosphere. Good comfort food and dedicated parking.

My husband and I like to explore when we go out to eat. So, after my PT appointment I did a search and found Alfred’s.

The building is in an older part of Tacoma. As a lifelong resident it was rather embarrassing to learn the restaurant had been around about 50 years. It is a part of town my parents ts rarely went.

Anyway, we took the plunge and went inside where we immediately found a table. The restaurant is larger than it appears. Even though the building is old, everything was clean and well appointed. Our server was also the manager who was filling in as they were short staffed. It did not slow them down. They were moderately busy but our meal was still served quickly!

I had the chicken fried steak with chorizo gravy, O’Brien potatoes, scrambled eggs and sourdough toast. WOW!!! Everything was hot, the eggs were light and fluffy, and the gravy was perfection!!! It had just a hint of heat, with great flavor. The bread was either homemade or artisan. It was not typical restaurant bread.

My husband had the California omelette with O’Brien potatoes and wheat toast. The omelette was huge and he said it was very good. The wheat bread was also homemade or artisan.

It was nice to be in a place where the music wasn’t blasting so loud that you could not carry on a conversation. It was nice to see other restaurant patrons talking to one another instead of looking at their phones.

There is a free shared parking lot on the east side of the building. It isn’t huge but we had no trouble locating a parking space.

I watched some of the other meals being served. They looked as tasty as our meals. My husband and I will definitely be back!

First time eating here this morning, great food, service and overall dining experience. We don’t eat pork and the waitress kindly allowed us to substitute Hashbrowns for the bacon. Corned beef hash was fresh , which was a plus. Definitely would recommend.
