The portions are large, but my order was not edible after it cooled down.
The fish taco was edible and decent. I will come back to try the Mojarra Frita special for comparison.
I do not like American Mexican food but love authentic, well-cooked gourmet Mexican Mexican American food and dishes.
They don’t have garnachas, pechuga, or Chicken Foot Soup here either.
The place is very clean and quiet. The water tastes strongly of chemicals and they serve Coke products. I was not offered any Aqua Frescas, but they are available such as Jamaican Water.
The menu is very extensive, and they offer many Mexican dishes not commonly found in this area, right here.
I am somewhat picky and travel the world tasting restaurants and reviewing them. The food in Merída Mexico is much more excellent than Alejandro’s Grill.
In the immediate area, I find Rio Luna Tacos to be the #1 best for authentic gourmet Mexican foods.
The establishment, Alejandro’s Mexican Grill comes in for a close 2nd Best Mexican restaurant, ties with Cazadores and Coco Loco N Euclid Bay City location.
I had ordered tortillas with my special plate from Jalisco. The Jaliscos are delicious and taste cooked in butter, with a few fresh tomatoes and other stuff with the meat.
Still, this food is nothing like real food from Guadalajara, Jalisco but rather American.
The quality of fresh vegetables and meat in the country of Jalisco is excellent and a much higher tier of quality than the ingredients found from commercial American restaurants.
I have not written off Alejandro’s restaurant as a no-go or given the Green Lights special; to all my loyal Google Maps fans — I recommend you try this restaurant at least twice.
Overall, it is better than 3 out of 4 Coca Loco Mexicans Restaurant and way better than the Taste of Bay City or the overpriced Mexican Steakhouse Juan’s Loco or Taco Bell or most other restaurants in the Tri-City Region of Midland – Bay City – Saginaw.
The corn tortillas are GMO bioengineered, raw, and nasty. I prefer Guerrero white corn or hand made tortillas from white non-GMO, heirloom maize corn imported from Mexico.
The staff is polite and does not discriminate against Mexican-Immigrants born in America from Ukraine, West Berlin.
The atmosphere was vibrant, the food was delicious, and the service was top-notch. The presentation of the food was fantastic, making the meal even more enjoyable. One unique and cool feature is the pennies embedded in their tables—such a fun touch!
However, it’s worth noting that they don’t have a public restroom. I wouldn’t recommend walking next door to Arby’s to use theirs because, honestly, their restrooms are quite scary. Lol. Overall, a great place to dine!
This place is easy to miss… just West if the Arby’s on M-46, only about 10 tables- they are rarely full, but the take out is a constant stream of folks who know The secret of Alejandro’s- good authentic food, reasonably priced, solid service and a place you’ll visit again and again.
