Burgers are “The Alby’s” specialty, but our ice cream is a real treat! We have glider swings for adults, a sandbox with toys for children, yellow umbrellas and shaded picnic areas. Visit our tiki bar behind the restaurant, the Alby’s Nest. Since 1977, the Albatross has become a Washington Island landmark – a true destination for most first-time and repeat visitors – an institution that has served several generations. I love this place. I would traverse hundreds, nay, THOUSANDS of miles across inhospitable and hostile terrain to do battle against the foul legions of the unholy who are bent on destroying the age of man…just to cast an evil ring into the liquid hot magma of an active volcano to absolutely rid the world of evil and its satan-allegory if it meant that The Albatross will remain open for the next 300 years. Again, I love this place. You, my friends at the Albatross Drive-In, bow to no one.
But in all seriousness, their food is amazing. They have some of the best, most delicious, and visually appealing burgers and hotdogs on Washington Island, if not the whole of Door County. Their shoestring fries are crispy and delightful, and their fried cheese curds are so gosh darn good that it will have you wanting to commit felonies just to have some more curds. I am severely lactose intolerant but gave their milkshakes a try despite my better judgment, and they are absolutely fantastic. It was totally worth the stomach pain, gas, and runny bowel movements for the next several days. So come one and come all and come check them out. Cheers!

What a fun place! They have been in business for close to 50 years and they have the classic drive in food! I had the Alby Burger with fries and a hot fudge malt, everything was super good! There is also a tiki bar in the back where you can get drinks. There are yard games and a sand box for the kids! We also saw a sign for their open mic nights on Tuesdays I believe so definitely worth checking out!

Literally the best food in Door County!! If you’re thinking of going to Washington Island, do it just for a visit to the Albatross Drive-In alone! Everything we ordered (cheeseburger, cowboy burger, fried pickles and fries) was prepared, seasoned and cooked to perfection! The staff was friendly and fun spirited, the outdoor eating area was clean and inviting. Overall great experience and our favorite stop during our vacation.

Good food. They warn you that they aren’t fast which is just a sign of they take the time to make it right. The Alby burger and onion rings were great. The hot dog was just fine. My kids won’t eat a Chicago dog so just ordered it plain for them.

The food is absolutely delicious, I thought I was just grabbing some burgers only to find out that they have a wide selection and variety of food to choose from. I started off with a cheeseburger even though I was tempted with all the other burgers; absolutely delicious and photogenic. I found myself coming back multiple times after the first day (the same day actually) and also grabbed a pizza burger. You must try this place if you’re on Washington Island

Been eating here since I was 3. The only thing that’s really changed is that they have added an outdoor bar that sells booze… This place isn’t big on change. And that’s good! Big juicy sloppy Alby-burgers with huge cheese curds and a mountain of fries…how can you go wrong? I would avoid this place during holiday events because the wait time can be excessive. But in the Early days of summer and towards the end of August, this place becomes pretty predictable and accessible. They have become much more efficient with their ordering process, and the food actually comes out pretty quickly, despite the horror stories some locals will tell you. Bring the kids, bring the baseball team, Bring the Marine Corps, chances are they’ll be able to handle it. You can certainly order things to go and eat them at home, Plus when the milkshakes Are just a little melted, I think that’s when they taste best. Far as I am concerned, it’s not summer vacation on the island unless you hit the Alby at least once or twice.

This place was recommended in a Door County guide book I had, and it was well worth the stop! Best burgers, fries & fried pickles! The staff was friendly & quick & the tables were quickly cleaned when emptied. Well worth waiting for the next ferry!

We’ve come here a couple times while visiting the island. We like that it’s a “fast food” option where we can sit outside with our dog! For fast food, it is a little slower than average but they do advertise that on their website so more of a heads up than a complaint. The burgers and ice cream are good, the cheese curds and fried picked were average. Love that they have a doggy sundae! However, the staff haven’t been very friendly in the times we’ve been here.

This was one of our favorite places on the island. The food and ice cream are both delicious, and it’s just such a fun place to sit and visit. It was packed the whole time we were there, for good reason. But even so, there was plenty of space for everyone and it just contributed to the atmosphere. A must stop on Washington island!
