Absolutely amazing taste! I tried the rumali chicken shawarma and mutton biryani, and honestly, it felt like I was back in Hyderabad. The flavors were spot on, rich, and authentic—especially the biryani, which was perfectly cooked and full of aroma. It’s rare to find this level of desi taste in Chicago, but Al Kabeer nailed it. If you’re craving real Hyderabadi-style food, this place is a must-visit. Definitely coming back again!

It’s like full on Indian Hyderabadi restaurant atmosphere If you’re on the hunt for authentic Indian cuisine in Chicago, specifically on Devon Street, look no further than this hidden gem. Specializing in biryanis and a variety of goat and chicken appetizers, this place truly delivers a culinary experience worth raving about.

We started our meal with the green chili biryani—a standout dish for anyone who enjoys a good kick of spice. The flavors were bold, and the rice was perfectly cooked, blending harmoniously with the green chili’s heat. For the appetizer, we ordered the chicken kebab, which was tender, well-seasoned, and grilled to perfection. The smoky char added an extra layer of flavor, making it a must-try for any kebab lover.

Next, we sampled the zafrani chicken, a dish rich in spices and layered with saffron’s delicate aroma. It had a subtle yet complex taste, showing off the chef’s mastery of balancing spices. But the star of the show was the goat dum biryani. Cooked slowly to perfection, the goat was incredibly tender, falling apart with every bite, while the biryani was fragrant, with spices seeping into every grain of rice.

This unassuming spot on Devon Street is easily one of the best places for biryanis in Chicago, and their attention to detail with both goat and chicken dishes sets them apart from other Indian restaurants. Whether you’re looking for a spicy adventure or a comforting, slow-cooked biryani, this place won’t disappoint!

To finish our meal on a sweet note, we indulged in their apricot dessert, which was easily one of the best I’ve ever tasted. This dessert is a delicate balance of sweetness and the subtle tartness of apricots, making for an unforgettable treat.

The apricots were perfectly stewed to a soft, almost velvety texture, while still holding their shape, allowing the natural fruit flavor to shine through. What really set this dessert apart was the light syrup they were served in, which wasn’t overly sweet and complemented the fruit without overpowering it. The hint of floral notes and perhaps a touch of cardamom added depth and warmth to the dish, making it feel both comforting and exotic at the same time.

If you’re a fan of fruity desserts or just want to try something unique, this apricot delight is a must-try. It’s the perfect ending to a rich meal, leaving you satisfied yet craving just one more bite.

If there is Hyderabad biryani somewhere it is this place. The biryani is outstanding. It’s the best I’ve had so far in Illinois surprisingly not many people know it but still they’re always sold out truly amazing hospitality amazing food.Biryani is Outstanding. There are no words to define how close it feels to true Hyderabadi biryani. after trying out everybody in Chicagoland from suburban restaurants known for their biryani in authenticity to the ones in the city this place stands out.
Mr Baseer has very hospitable and kind ,prompt and very respectful among the staff.

9 out of 10 times, their biryani is terrible—so stop calling it “authentic Hyderabadi food.”
Real Hyderabadi food is flawless in every bite. There’s no excuse for uncooked rice, undercooked meat, or reheated, microwaved leftovers being served as biryani.
If the food is fresh, say it’s fresh. If it’s not, don’t serve it.
Stop ruining the reputation of one of the finest cuisines in the world and also stop ruining your name.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was genuinely disappointing. I ordered a mutton dish that had a very off smell. I discreetly informed the server privately, out of courtesy and so as not to cause embarrassment. He assured me the dish would be removed from my check.

Unfortunately, when the bill arrived, I was still charged for it.

What bothered me most wasn’t just the quality issue, these things can happen, but the lack of professionalism and follow-through. If a staff member makes a promise, it should be honoured. Quietly raising a concern and still being charged feels unfair and disrespectful as a customer.

I expected better accountability and customer service. Sadly, this experience has left me with no desire to return.
