This was my first time here and wow what a beautiful plate of food! I loved meeting the whole family who makes fresh authentic Palestinian/ Yemeni food daily. This was the chicken mandi which came with a side of spicy sauce and cucumber tomato salad. I recommend this place for your groceries and for a lovely meal.

This was the most perfect place to stop!! My husband and I were in the mood for some dessert on our trip, and happened upon this place. We were greeted with smiles and recommendations. The baklava and the other dessert were amazing- if they recommend the baklava with cream cheese, get it!!
This is a great place to stop, and it’s Palestinian family owned!!

Their new location is on S 13th Street, only a little ways from Layton. There are still lots of pictures from their old location on Layton, but as of April 2025, they are inside Rayan Market & Restaurant, a Middle Eastern market (see pictures). It is a small family owned business, and mother cooks all the food. It’s only been a month since they moved here from Layton, so they don’t have a sign yet, but just go in to the Rayan super market, and navigate yourself to the back of the building. They do have a table off to the side inside the market if you’re in a pinch and need to eat there, but I’d recommend taking the food to go.

The family is friendly, and if you aren’t too familiar with Mediterranean food, they will help you navigate their menu items. They have 2 types of rice. One is a smoked rice (first time I tried it, and it was good!), and the other one is cinnamon. I didn’t care for the latter, but the smoked rice was delicious. I was only going to try a bite or two, but I ended up kicking myself off of keto and ate a whole bowl.

Chicken special – with rice and salad
Salad was a small portion of very fresh lettuce, tomato and cucumber in light oil dressing. Chicken was a bit dry for my taste. They did have the chicken in a warmer plate (like the buffet style) and it must have been sitting there a while. The flavors were good, but the dryness was disappointing. The menu says “half chicken”, but we got 2 pieces of thigh+drum. In a way that’s good, cuz any breast meat would have been so much more dry.

Lamb special – with rice and salad
We ordered the cinnamon rice for this dish and the smoked one for the chicken dish. Like I said, the smoked rice was better for my palate. The lamb was delicious. It was falling off the bones, but it wasn’t dry. We got 3 large chunks of lamb with bone and one little piece boneless. In both plates, our server piled the rice so high! I hope they don’t go out of business giving so much rice! But I’m not complaining.

Overall, the meal was delicious and I would definitely go again. I’d love to try some of their appetizers and other meat items.

We headed there tired & hungry directly from the Milwaukee airport. It was the nearest halal restaurant from the airport. When we got there, found the staff very helpful as well as attentive. There’s a offer going on,every 20$+ purchase, you get 10$ off on everything. We ordered 2 beef shawarma plate & baklava. The portion size were quite large & tasted great n flavourful. The owner was so generous, he even managed to get us 10$ discount on each of our purchase. Looking forward to try their chicken mandi next time we visit there.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Al Bazzar. The owners are friendly and took very good care of us without doting. The restaurant will undergo remodeling in January though it will not close.

August 4, 2024 – My wife and returned for lunch. The remodeling I mentioned above is completed. The dining area is bright and clean. The food was delicious and served in ample portions. The hosts are friendly and considerate. The landscaping of the building needs pruning. We wondered if the restaurant was open when we drove into the parking lot. We were delighted to see the open sign in the window.

First time there on a Saturday evening around 6pm atmosphere was off there seemed to be decor from a baby shower with dying balloons in one corner but the rest of the area was nice it wasn’t busy at all they seated us we chose a booth it was spacious and comfortable. The service was great and welcoming they treat you with much care and consideration. We had mixed platter the meat had so much moisture and was easy off the bone. The 2 rice options we had were a green one and a orange one. I preferred the green one their garlic sauce is great. The falafel was the best I’ve ever tasted. The lamb is top shelf. And their malt non alcoholic drinks are very tasty. The dessert on the way out is for you if you have a huge sweet tooth

Hard to find something better than this place.

From the amazing family that runs the establishment, to the prices, to the amazing taste of the food. 10/5 stars!!!

Update (April 2023):

have gotten catered food from here twice now, been to their Ramadan buffet, and pick up food to go all the time. This is our family’s goto food. Cannot get better than this. Also, the most amazing family who runs the place.

Unfortunately, this location has closed down. They’re now only serving takeout at a nearby convenience store. There’s no seating area to enjoy a meal, and the food isn’t quite as good as it used to be. I’m hoping to visit them again soon and hopefully have some updates for you.

This culinary gem in Milwaukee’s Mediterranean scene offers home-cooked, lovingly prepared food that’s simply divine. The chicken and lamb are juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. The rice is expertly cooked, a testament to generations of experience. The service is warm, personal, and attentive, making you feel like a valued guest. And don’t forget to take some baklava home on your way out! ❤️

This middle eastern food is the most authentic we’ve had in the entire country so far (and we’ve been to lots of places). Where do I even start? Their extremely flavorful hummus where they clearly add way more tahini than most places would? Their pressure cooked rice that has an incredibly deep smoky flavor? Or their bone in lamb that’s so tender and flavorful it brings tears to your eyes when you eat it? No, there’s nowhere I can start. If you read this review and you do not go to Al Bazzar, I will be incredibly disappointed.

Support FAMILY-Owned businesses! This couple is so sweet and at first I almost didn’t go in because I only saw one car in the parking lot! So glad for the open sign and I went in anyway and got super delicious food, highly recommend getting their little red hot sauce homemade and I added it to my rice and lamb!
It made me so sad to see a parking lot across the street at McDonald’s and I wish I could tell all of them to come over here !!
