We tried Al Ameer and overall had a good experience. The fresh naan and garlic sauce were excellent as a starter and set a strong first impression. The kabab was perfectly seasoned and very juicy, easily the highlight of the meal and probably the best kabab I’ve had in Metro Detroit so far. The kufta was good with a slightly different, enjoyable flavor, while the tawook was just okay in comparison. I highly recommend the kabab.

The staff were mostly kind and helpful, although one person was a bit impatient while taking our order. The baklava tasted good but did not seem very fresh. Despite these minor issues, I would definitely return, mainly to order the kabab again.

My husband and I both worked near Dearborn at different times and used to have lunch at Al Ameer so we’ve been familiar with the restaurant for over a decade.

The food is always excellent and since we retired we don’t go there often enough so this year we decided to go there for Thanksgiving.

My husband is a meat eater. I am not. We were both able to get food we loved. We had lentil soup, hummus, and a feta Fatoush salad. For my main course had majadra, a dish made with lentils, carmalized onions and rice. My husband had something with meat. I think it has chicken, beef and lamb. He said it was excellent. For dessert I had baklava. Everything was excellent. Portions are generous and we had enough leftovers for three meals.

The restaurant is very pretty and the staff is always very friendly. Malik, our server was professional, polite, accommodating, friendly and a lot of fun to talk to. He was our server and our dinner companion. We also spoke with a very nice young lady named Zahraa for a few moments. She shared that she’s in high school and wants to become a doctor.

The food, the atmosphere and the company of Malik and Zahraa made for an excellent Thanksgiving dinner. Sure, it wasn’t traditional, but I don’t eat meat so I’m really not into turkey anyway. I do love Middle Eastern food, though, and Al Ameer has excellent food. It’s my favorite Middle Eastern restaurant.

The restaurant is clean and the ladies restroom was tastefully decorated and immaculate. That’s important to me. I took a lot of pictures, including the entire menu, so you can see everything they have to offer.

Thank you, Malik and Zahraa, for making our dining experience so enjoyable.

Some of the most incredible food I’ve ever had in my life. I don’t understand how it could be THAT good and was ready so fast. The wait staff was also incredibly kind and helpful. I will be back!!!

Al Ameer Restaurant in Dearborn sets the standard for classic Lebanese dining. The kefta kabob was juicy and perfectly seasoned, with that signature charcoal flavor that makes every bite irresistible. The lamb chops were tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection—rich without being heavy. Each dish felt fresh and thoughtfully prepared, true to tradition yet vibrant in taste. The warm and attentive staff made the whole experience feel like being welcomed into a friend’s home.

Al Ameer was fantastic. We visited from Toronto for a wedding in Dearborn and had a great experience. The kababs and chicken liver came in good portions, and the service was excellent, our server Malik was very pleasant and attentive. We appreciate the quality food and service, and hope to return soon!

My partner and I came here during lunch and we were quickly seated. The lunch menu is a good value with big portions. The food here was amazing, especially the chicken! The bread is homemade. Worth a stop if you’re craving Middle Eastern food!

First and foremost the service is horrible, and to the owner just to let you know there is a girl with the letter L is a very rude person. She says sorry only to continue arguing and making excuses for not properly making sure the food is how the customer wants it, not how she wants it. I don’t want her to get fired or anything, just to adjust her attitude at work and have better communication skills. I work and do the same job she does and it gets just as busy, and I check everything single order to make sure it’s what the customer asked for, when a person asks for medium rare lamb chops you make sure that the cook made it right, and if it’s not right you send it back and get it right before the customer gets it. Not burnt to a crisp, then proceeds to say that’s how she likes it and eats it, I don’t care how you like it, I ordered it a specific way because I like to eat it like that. There is no excuse to not properly make sure that the customer is getting what they ask for. And I honestly don’t know or think that the owner actually cares for his business if he allows this kind of service from his employees to his paying customers. But I guess whatever floats your boat. And please tell me after seeing the picture, even if you like your meat cooked well done if you would still eat this piece of charcoal passed on as meat. I got the order remade and checked it before I left and I was finally done right. But why I wrote this was because of her arrogance. But she likes it that way, and I guess I should to. But sorry….

Excellent Middle Eastern Dining Experience!
Al Amir Restaurant is truly a hidden gem! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Their shawarma, hummus, and kebabs are absolutely delicious — authentic taste that feels homemade. The staff are friendly, attentive, and make you feel welcome every time you visit. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for families or friends gathering for a meal.

I’ll be real, as an Arab food connoisseur I heard big things about this restaraunt. I ordered hummous, cheese rolls, the sharable platter, and fattoush.

On the platter, the kefta was amazing, some of the best I’ve had in my life. The chicken shawarma wasn’t bad. Everything else though? Not good. Steak was dry and old, tawook seemed like it was sitting, everything just tasted old, bland, and dry. I was shocked to have this in Dearborn of all places.

The white rice was good. The bread was clearly old bread that was heated, after drying it became hard as my head, couldn’t even rip it to eat hummous with. Cheese rolls were really good.

Overall, probably wouldn’t go back unless to eat the kefta. Majorly let down and disappointed.

Place is kinda cheeks.

The food was just okay, not really worth the hype. The stuffed grape leaves had way too much cumin, I couldn’t eat them. Hummus was pretty good, but the chicken liver platter was the best part.
