Fresh Sushi & Great Value Lunch Specials!
Came here for a late lunch with my daughter and had a lovely time.
The Food: We tried their lunch sets which include a variety of sushi and rolls. The fish was surprisingly fresh and high quality for the price. It’s very reasonably priced for NYC!
The Atmosphere: Since it was a weekday afternoon, the place was quiet and we could relax and chat. The interior has a nice vibe and is kept clean.
The Service: The waitress was very friendly and made us feel welcome.
Overall, it’s a solid spot for a casual lunch in the neighborhood. Highly recommended if you’re looking for good sushi without the Midtown markup!

My go to sushi and Japanese quick bite place. Its lunch special is from 11am to 3pm. They have bento boxes, sushi roll combos and entrees for roughly $15. The service is quick and the food is fully cooked. If you find yourself on a waitlist for a nearby restaurant- drop by this small business and enjoy. I had the salmon teriyaki lunch special.

I’m new to the area. I just came in for the lunch special and it’s so good. This is the second time I’ve come and both times I’ve had an amazing experience. The spicy salmon and avocado rolls are my fav. 10/10 recommend!

Picked up lunch around noon time on a Thursday. Woman behind register was very rude and greeted me with: “What do you want?!”. Order was supposed to be ready at 12.10pm, but had to wait till 12.30pm. Sushi was mediocre. Especially the tempura roll had barely any shrimp and mostly just old crusted batter. It smelled odd inside.

I have been eyeing this place for some time on my walk to work. This evening I decided to try it. Nothing short of amazing. It’s a secret space, and needs to show itself more. The sushi was delicious, exploring all the different flavors and textures, and the tempura is a new favorite. Some Hot saki also warmed the palate for the food I ate.
I am coming here again.

Akura has been my favorite sushi spot for a while now. I order from here 2/3 times a week. The sushi is so fresh and delicious. The staff is so great and helpful when ordering. Highly recommend!

The place was empty when I came in. Their lose. Very big variety of Japanese food, everything was fresh. But the most important thing was that the service was super fast and the attention to my table was high.

The food was very disappointing. It tasted like the chef had only seen pictures of Japanese food and tried to imitate it using stuff lying around the kitchen. See the attached photo of their soggy katsu don… with imitation crab and mushrooms, and no taste of dashi. The “special sushi roll” was made like Korean kimbap, with the seaweed on the outside and stale rice packed tightly on the inside. This would all be somewhat excusable if they didn’t charge the same prices that legitimate Japanese restaurants do. I am upset with how much I spent on such below-average food.

Our FAVORITE sushi spot! The staff never fails to be extremely kind and attentive every time we dine in. Not to mention, you can’t beat the food quality for the price anywhere else in the city. When we have visitors we make sure to bring them to Akura and they also love it just as much as we do. If you haven’t had Akura Sushi you’re missing out!

This place never fails. Order the lunch special from them regularly; the rolls are delicious and they use high quality fish. I don’t understand the google rating bc they’re really amazing. Hopefully this review will boost their rating bc they really deserve it!
Ps I usually order their salmon, tuna and lobster roll and allllll are amazing
