Jan 2026: Ramen and sushi here in a thoughtfully decorated atmosphere. The shrimp tempura is a great starter, rates an 8/10. The miso ramen was not that great though and was not hot enough, rates 6/10. Excellent service. Will try the sushi next time.

What a discovery and hidden gem in Frederick!
Stopped here for lunch, and it turned out to be a next-level experience! From the stunning décor to the attentive service and absolutely delicious food — everything was top-notch. This is easily one of the best meals we’ve had, and we travel often as international foodies.

Our server Ying was amazing, and the ambiance — including the thoughtfully chosen music volume — made the experience even more enjoyable. We’ll definitely be back soon for a full dinner experience!

We tried Akira Sushi because there was a good deal on Uber Eats — the fried cheese sushi roll was buy one, get one free. We also ordered the chicken ramen. Overall, everything was decent and mostly fresh. The ramen was definitely the highlight — the broth was flavorful and slightly creamy, and the fried chicken was served on the side so it didn’t get soggy, which was a nice touch.

The sushi, however, was disappointing. It was just fake crab and cream cheese, fried — and costs $18.95 per roll, which is way too high for those ingredients, especially since the rolls were just normal size. At full price, it would have been almost $40 for two, which doesn’t match the quality or what the pictures online suggest.

Glad we gave it a try, but if we order again, it’ll only be for the ramen. The sushi is just not worth the price.

I recently visited Akira Ramen & Izakaya and loved everything I tried. The Coco Sushi Roll was unique and packed with flavor — definitely a standout. The chicken teriyaki was perfectly cooked, tender, and had a great balance of sweetness and savory. I also had one of their ramen soups, and it was incredibly comforting with a rich, flavorful broth.
The service was friendly and fast, and the overall vibe of the place was warm and welcoming. Whether you’re in the mood for sushi, ramen, or a variety of izakaya dishes, this spot has something for everyone.

Highly recommend — I’ll definitely be back!

This was truly an excellent dining experience. They have many different options for Ramen, Sushi, and Sake. They also have a spicy challenge that I think would have been cool to try if we didn’t have 2+ more hours to drive

Our hostess & server were wonderful, attentive, & friendly & Corina gave good recommendations on the Sake! She was also very sweet & nice to talk to! And the Sake was delicious! I am not a big drinker but I will always try Sake because rice is one of the fermented grains I can tolerate!

Sushi: Amazing – so flavorful, fresh, and lots of good textures all in one dish!

The ramen was also perfect – not too spicy (when you find snot dripping out your nose when you’re eating I rate that as too spicy) but it wasn’t boring.

Also their bathrooms are pretty cool! Love the textured walls in the hallway & lighting!

The major winner for me is, I did not have to stop for a bathroom break all the way home. I think that speaks to the quality of the food, along with the cleanliness. The atmosphere was quiet, and the decor is tastefully done & classy. I will definitely be adding this to my list of places to stop when I’m in the area again!

Thank you, Akira for a great experience I have already recommended you to people I know that I think would enjoy!!

First off, I was entranced by the moving ramen sculpture at the entrance. So cool!

This restaurant is spotless and I felt very comfortable on our booth. The food was tasty and the service was great. Definitely check this place out!

My partner had never eaten at a Ramen restaurant. We stopped here before heading to our Air B & B. The food was so good we decided to grab dinner again the next night. Our Sushi rolls cane out before Ramen, so it was like an appetizer before the meal. The Ramen was flavorful and a huge portion. Would definitely eat here again.

I’ve come to Akira Ramen several times and I always have a great experience. As a Byzantine Catholic this week I started the Great Lenten fast and I was looking for vegan options. I got Akira’s vegetable ramen and it was so good I had to triple check with the waitress that there wasn’t any chicken or pork in the broth. Simply outstanding! I highly recommend Akira Ramen!

Would highly recommend! Was craving sushi. Saw it off the highway. The food was really good!

The sake was not good. It was hot and tasted cheap.

The dessert was different.

I was told the sushi here was excellent. Unfortunately, I do not agree. Ordered regular sushi rolls with forbidden rice and they were all flavorless. The person I was dining with agreed; he didn’t find anything flavorful or appetizing about the regular sushi rolls (I think we ordered tuna and avocado along with a couple others). I’ve never had sushi taste like absolutely nothing before, but that’s what happened here. The 270 roll was better in terms of having flavor, so that was somewhat redeeming. The food delivery was also confusing because they plated different orders together; we weren’t sure which order belonged to which diner. I found this to be problematic. The atmosphere of this place is pretty good and so was the service, but that’s where the compliments end. I don’t think I will return.
