We didn’t plan on getting dinner for Valentine’s Day, but after a long day at the mall we needed some sushi. As you can imagine it’s not easy to find a table at 7:30 on such a desired night. We called around and checked reviews. We came across Akina they said they were open till 9 to come on in. We arrived and the owner opened the door for us and greeted us , it was quiet only one other couple in the dining room. It felt like every person that worked there greeted us it was really refreshing to see. The waiter was very knowledgeable, efficient, and the courses came out perfectly timed. We never felt rushed once. The owner would periodically check in to make sure we were enjoying our food. We had some delicious roasted rice green tea to start it was sooooo good. Now let’s get to the food. In our opinion this is the best sushi in the area hands down. The sashimi was so fresh, the rolls spectacular, just 10s all across the board. They even brought us out a special dessert. It really made our night. I can’t speak more highly of this place. It is our new spot . Thank you to the staff for making this Valentine’s Day one to remember we will be back.

I’ve eaten a lot of sushi at some really high-quality spots, and Akina Sushi in Paoli stands out as one of the best experiences I’ve had. The fish is incredibly fresh, the rice is perfectly seasoned, and every roll and nigiri is made with real attention to detail.

A great, high quality sushi restaurant was needed in our Paoli area and Akina delivered. We had some tasty appetizers like the rock shrimp tempura, baby octopus salad and salmon tatami salad, but the absolute highlight of the evening (and a sushi bucket list checkmark) was the Live Lobster Sashimi and Sushi dinner they made for us. We got to see the owner pick out a 4lb live lobster from their tanks to help feed four in our family. It’s no small feat to create sashimi and sushi out of live lobster, which is why I’ve never seen it offered at other sushi restaurants, so ask the owner the hard work they do to put lobster on our plates. The lobster sashimi was delicate and actually a little crunchy, and with some unique sweetness to it. The cooked lobster sushi and maki rolls from the same lobster were absolutely delicious. Not cheap but you get what you pay for with such a unique experience! To me, the quality of this live lobster preparation reflects on the overall quality of the food here. Amazing!

Had a lovely meal at Akina. Make sure you order the Tuna Dumpling – such a delicious unique combination. Also loved Mango Tango, Spicy Rainbow and the Naruto rolls.
