We enjoyed the omakase dinner at Akame restaurant. The restaurant is ultra small, just 6 seats during each seating so there plenty of opportunities to chat with chef and watch him create our dinner. I enjoyed creative combinations of flavors and textures. I loved all the fish offering, however my favorite turned out to be the four gras served on crispy rice crispies topped with yuzu jam and chocolate. Heavenly!
The restaurant is hidden away in an alley off Mass ave. We parked right in front of it, but did not see it, because the only sign is a black writing on the door which we could not see due to reflections. For reference, it is next to Fruitee Yogurt, which has bright signage.

Akame is a six seat omikase restaurant tucked away on a side street of Lexington. The only sign is on the door so it’s easy to miss. It’s next to the frutopia froyo shop.
It’s a one man show, the chef/owner does everything himself. He’s a very engaging guy and with only six people at a counter it’s a nice social experience.
We enjoyed our experience.

An absolute gem nestled in the heart of Lexington, MA with a unique experience. A non-traditional take on sushi while adhering to the core of what makes a sushi, sushi. Every bite was a journey with interesting combination of toppings that compliment the fish beautifully. A very intimate experience with one chef and six seats where you get to dive deep into conversation with the chef about his journey. He delivers high quality food at a very good flow while maintaining good conversation with the guests. What I really appreciated about the chef is that he plays the energy off of the guests seated at the table instead of trying to force conversation with the guests.

My husband and I just had dinner here for our anniversary. The omikase was a fusion of asian and non-asian ingredients that paired very well together. The chef did an excellent job making sure each dish had a balance of delicious flavors and textures. Many of the combinations worked surprisingly well and makes me want to experiment with some of those same flavors at home. My husband did the sake pairing with the meal and really enjoyed each of the recommended sake. Also, the desserts were fantastic, especially the taiyaki with black sesame whipped cream.

I would recommend visiting this place at least once. It was a satisfying and pleasant experience. The chef did an amazing job.

Hands down THE MOST creative omakase I’ve ever been to. The chef literally takes imported fresh, authentic fish from Japan and pushes the boundaries with them in unthinkable yet genius ways.

Every piece he delivers is a masterpiece. He brilliantly hits different ratios of sweet/savory and intentionally incorporates variety in texture in literally everything he serves up. This man can COOK.

I would like to add that I have never been a fan of uni, but the chef changed my mind on that real quick. That’s crazy. It was actually one of my favorite pieces from the whole set.

I would also like to add that one of the courses was a plate of multiple slices of perfectly cooked, geniusly assembled wagyu. That blew my mind. It was the best form of wagyu I’ve ever had, and I was so glad we got a small plate of it instead of one slice. Each piece assimilated into my tongue and gave me a sample of heaven. Praise the Lord for that.

The meal tastefully ended with two dessert courses. Bravo. I love dessert. Both of them went NUTS. Both were the best desserts I’ve ever had at any omakase, but I personally loved the second to last the most. Think of like a rice crispy, but give it an Asian twist, then level it up and evolve it all the way like your favorite Pokémon. Seriously, I wish I had an elf in my brain taking notes on each dish for me because they were so unique that I couldn’t even comprehend how to describe the flavors more concretely right now.

The establishment was clean, simple, yet very homey —like if you had an uncle who turned his kitchen into an omakase joint. The chef was so very kind and sweet. He was great at making conversation and making you feel seen on a more personal level, which is way more than I can say for most places. Mind you, although it was a 6 seater, he was still a one man team —and he executed everything perfectly in a timely manner amidst the friendly convo. Just impressive. A gem among gems and a MUST try. Please, somebody just give this man some Michelin stars already.

I had the pleasure of dining at Akame Nigiri and Sake in Lexington, MA, and I can confidently say it’s one of the best omakase experiences I’ve ever had. What makes this place truly remarkable is that it’s a single-owned, single-run restaurant with no employees—just one master chef pouring their heart and soul into every dish. The dedication and hard work are evident in every bite, and it’s nothing short of impressive.

The 15-course omakase offering, priced at $180 per guest, was an absolute delight. Each course was a masterpiece, showcasing the freshest Japanese fish and shellfish, alongside luxurious additions like foie gras, Hokkaido uni, A5 wagyu, and caviar. The dessert was the perfect sweet finish to an incredible meal. Every dish was beautifully presented and perfectly cooked, reflecting the skill of a true master chef.

The chef was not only talented but also incredibly kind and wonderful, making the experience even more memorable.

From start to finish, all courses were fantastic, and I can’t recommend Akame enough. If you’re looking for an authentic, high-quality omakase experience, this is the place to go. 10/10

I don’t really want to tell anyone else about this place because I want to keep it for our friends and family, but that wouldn’t be fair. Probably one of the best meals I’ve ever had hands down. The service and quality are white glove and yet it’s a relaxing and chill vibe. Can’t wait to go back.

I had the most enjoyable omakase experience tonight. This was authentic nihon-ni sushi with a touch of New England creativity that was absolutely delightful. Honestly more enjoyable than most dining experiences I’ve had in Tokyo.
Sake pairings also melded the course to a cohesive and thought out experience. Can’t wait to be back. Excited to experience again especially with seasonal emphasis on fish and ingredients.

Thanks you!

What a special experience. The creativity of the chef and selection of the fish and innovative toppings were superb. Highly recommended for a special evening. Give Michael the opportunity to let his experience shine as he provides the diner with unique fish flown in from Tokyo.

Incredible incredible incredible! Chef Monaco was a great host, entertainer, and obviously, a great chef. We came in a little before seating and he welcomed us in while he prepared the fish. He was very fun to talk to and the way he walked us through each course made this a truly educational and fulfilling experience. Furthermore, the creativity on some of the courses pushed the limit of my understanding of omakase and even fine dining. The cherry on top was that when my girlfriend covered herself with her shawl, Chef Monaco turned the thermostat up, showing a true care for his diners. This place is truly a gem with extremely accessible parking (huge parking lot behind the CVS) and while I’d love to gatekeep, everyone should go and try Akem. Extremely worth it! Great food, great vibes, and a great guy behind the counter.
