Looks like a nice place. One waiter was very friendly. Food was average. The main issue is the intense smell of bleach and toilet cleaner that fills the restaurant. Kinda ruins the appetite. If the owner or manager would deal with this the atmosphere would be significantly better. No one likes feeling like they’re having a meal in the bathroom.

I’ve been accustomed to unlimited sushi restaurants in the past but once I gave Akai a try, I can’t get over what a difference in quality I experienced. I’ve gone to Akai a number of times for dinner and lunch and I haven’t been disappointed yet. I will say the servers definitely try to upsell sushi experiences but it’s for a decent reason…the omakase offered is the way to go. Some of the fish pictured includes toro with gold flakes, rosy sea bass, and shima aji. For lunch, I’ve ordered the chicken katsu which was very generously portions and fried to a crisp. I plan to keep Akai in my Westchester County sushi rotation.

Had dinner at Akai with the girlfriends for the first time and it was fresh and delicious! I wish I would’ve taken pictures of the appetizers we ordered but they were devoured in seconds. The lychee sangria is also amazing!

Full sushi restaurant in Scardale.
Extensive menu, including non sushi items, from gyoza (pot stickers), udon, teriyaki. Service was friendly, and efficient.
The clam soup was very fresh and full of flavor. The sushi selection was wide. Every sushi, roll we had was fresh, and nicely cut /prepared. Moichi dessert was pretty good, though lost in all the whipped cream.

Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had and I’ve had lots. Even my picky teen son was impressed.
Owner and all staff are amazingly attentive, courteous, clean and very mindful of the precautions needed to ensure a safe indoor dining experience during these times.

Selling sushi for $21 and $25 a portion of 6 and the quality is the same as if you are buying sushi in the supermarket of a cheap Chinese store. I was shocked by the courage to sell that type of the quality of sushi. The service was Horrable, received the beer at the main course after reminding the waiter 2 times. I won’t go there again.

AKAI had a “ soft opening “ on November 6th, so my wife and I wanted to give them some business. We were happy to see that they had an awning that was opened with tables in front of the restaurant as well as seating inside. We preferred to sit outside a d even though it was raining we were comfortable and dry! We also noticed that they had installed electric heaters that were under the awnings so that they are getting maximum heat while providing more space for their guests. When we sat down, we waited a while before we realized that we could order online using the bar code that was on a little laminated paper on our table. Figuring out the menu was complicated because while the online menu stated that their lunch menu was soon to be available, it turned out that we could order from their lunch menu! As we were navigating their bizarre online ordering we were getting very hungry. Finally a waiter came and when we expressed some frustration with their hi-tech ordering, he asked if we’d like an actual menu! We were thrilled and we told him we will be ready to order in less than a minute. We looked at their menu but it was only for dinner! And after waiting for another 10 minutes, we left.
I’m sure that in a few weeks, they will figure out all these kinks! There were other folks eating outside as well as inside their spacious dining area. If we weren’t so hungry, I’m sure their food would have been delicious. I’m sure we will be returning soon!

The sushi is amazing. There’s lots of types of sushi and other dishes too. Don’t even get me started on the takeout it’s absolutely disgusting the worst takeout ever. If your in Scarsdale you should still get akai.

It’s a modern restaurant. Good environment for social activities. Food is clean and delicious. But it’s too common. Nothing really stands out. They can consider Omakase menu to become a top Japanese restaurant in this area.
