The freshest Sushi! Large menu with many varieties of local Seafood to choose from. The warm and friendly staff added to Akai Hana’s very clean appearance and graceful ambience. Will def be coming back here to try all the other dishes.

Have you been here a few times before and it’s great every time. The sushi chef knows my regular order but tonight he wasn’t there and I accidentally tried something new. It was the best sushi I’ve ever had. It’s called a banzai roll. We’ve had the soups and other sushis and other dishes and it’s always just great!

I guess for a small town the sushi here is decent. Honestly though, it was standard fare, the fish tasted right and the place was clean, the staff were nice. The rolls left something to be desired as far as flavors, but this is not the worse sushi place I’ve been to, it’s just nothing special. I’d go back in a pinch and order nigiri only

Sushi was good but they should run the bogo offer everyday for lunch. Very friendly staff and the sushi chef was super nice. I will be back on Tuesday or Wednesday when it’s buy one get one! Sit at the sushi bar it’s a good time!

Whoever wrote that this is the best sushi in NC is totally clueless. There were about 10 chef special rolls. All 3 we got were mediocre. Shrimp tempura wasn’t crunchy (likely premade and not freshly fried per roll). I won’t eat here again. 2 stars because staff was nice and spring rolls were ok. Price is high for what you get.

If I could pick six stars I would! Amazing sushi and incredible service. I have been to Japan and I would say the sushi at Akai is definitely on par. The ginger always tastes fresh and the wasabi is definitely not the cheap stuff like other places. This has now become my once a week food stop.

I do not recommend this place unless you want to over pay for just mediocre sushi. Customer service is awful and they’re over priced. I got the tunapeno roll I asked them to sub out the avocado for cream cheese and I got charged for it without being told. Then it says Tuesday is buy one get one free sushi so I ordered based off of that. When I get there that special is dine in only which is not specified anywhere. DO NOT recommend.

I was honestly just buzzing the strip on a grey, rainy day when I spotted Akai Hana. I’m glad I stopped, even though the place was dead when I drove by. By the time I left there was a small crowd and everyone seemed to be enjoying their food.
I went straight to the sushi bar and was greeted by the chef. He politely engaged with me about what he felt a need to recommend. He, the waitress, and the short order cook (he popped out for a couple of minutes) were all extremely friendly and customer service oriented.
My preference for octopus and mackerel guaranteed that I was going to order them and they were both great. Actually, the chef admitted that he had found an especially nice mackerel – so I know he is intimately familiar with what he is serving. I also ordered yellowtail, fresh local flounder, surf clam, a spicy mackerel roll, and a “Green Roll.” Everything was fresh, clean, flavorful, well-prepared, and artfully delivered.
My miso soup and hot tea were both good and while they won’t be what I remember most from my visit, they were both good and I would order them again.
I am traveling and may not make it back here anytime soon, but I WILL make a point to stop in whenever I am able to. One of my top sushi choices spanning my years of eating cold, dead fish.

This place is great! I really enjoyed my plate. Very nice waitresses. Some of the best sushi I have ever had. I would really suggest you try the clear soup if you decide to go.

Friendly hostess/waitress. Ordered udon soup with green tea. Good food. Returned the next day for sushi. Was told they just received fresh, local tuna. Ordered a spicy tuna roll and a caterpillar roll. Both were amazing!
