Nice family owned place. We tried the fish and bbq burger which were both flavorful. Cash only there is an ATM if needed. Lots of beer choices but only 3 on tap. A touch pricy but worth a stop when in the area

Aj’s is the kind of place we all assume exists in the rural areas of our country, but can never seem to find anymore. Friendly. Charming. Exactly what is says it is. A bar and a grill. No fancy frills to get in the way of a tried and true formula. This is the real deal. Sitting at the bar for a minute while your food is cooked feels like coming home after being way for a long time – it just feels right. So of course there’s the atmosphere of a sparkling clean and very friendly roadside bar to enjoy, but the real find here is the food – I mean look at that burger! Their Western Bacon Cheeseburger is hands-down the best burger in this county. And it is a beast! If you find yourself driving along Carthage Highway, either because it’s on your way home or if you’re just passing through, be nice to yourself and stop here for a meal. There is absolutely zero reason to drive into Lebanon or Carthage from out here, because you simply can’t find better food or service. And if you aren’t fortunate enough to live nearby, it’s worth the drive to get here – this is the best bar/grill food around. Carthage Highway (US-70N) is a state scenic highway – The Promised Land Trail. Aj’s is exactly the right kind of local place you’d hope to find along a scenic highway; for those of us that live nearby, we just happen to have this true gem that is worthy of a drive to get out to. For the rest of you, it’s worth stopping by to relax and to enjoy the real deal.

Forgive me for this review, But I have to be honest with my disappointment.
Walked in at 945(2145 hrs)
Bar stools/chairs were put up. There were 10 vehicles outside I saw 3 patrons sitting down. Asked if yall were open, one customer said no, the other said yes, just slow.
We walk up to the bar, couple minutes later the bartender asks if she can help us, I responded we were looking for a drink. She says she already closed out the cash register(2150 hrs on a Sat). Normally I’d expect a business still able to process card payments, but that info wasn’t given to me. I walked out and said why would you ask if you could help us?
I’m sorry I drove out of my way to give my business. Drove 20 minutes back to Lebanon to give another bar my money.
The one reason this is a 3 star and not lower is because I dont want to tank your reviews. And I understand business may be slow, but the bartenders attitude was unprofessional and could have been handled with more class.

Stopped in one day with my buddy on our motorcycles. Not Harleys, no problem with anybody in the joint. In fact a couple locals came and talked with us about bikes.
The Fried Pickles appetizer is, first off: pickle spears; and secondly: THE SINGLE BEST FRIED PICKLES I’VE HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. The breading is super tasty and they were fried to perfection. I’ll be back simply for the pickles.

Was on a benefit ride with 75 motorcycles. The service was quick, great and very friendly. Beer was reasonably priced, had a BBQ plate special for $10. Great atmosphere inside and outside! We’ll be back I’m sure!!

This is a must go there place if you’re looking for a country bar and grill or you just want to get away. Very clean and comfortable. Great atmosphere. We stopped in on a Sunday morning 11am for breakfast. Now that’s a good breakfast. I wish we had a place like this where I live.
